Well I checked profile of Bullmastiff but its not very much adaptable towards hot climate. Moreover its training is also not very easy.
it's a dog with good temperament.not sure about the climate stuff.training should not be a problem.
avoid all aggresive ones.GSD or doberman are nice but might run out of patience. lab is much preferable that way.
how about the dalmatian, even danes? not much idea about these two breeds.

Dear Dheeraj, i think your info about Bull Mastiff is some what not true, as they are very dificult to handle, i remember my friend use to have it. During day time they use to keep him open and if somebody use to come he was next to impossible to handle him specially by his mother when no other member was home. Dalmations are good but somehow you dont see them often.
great danes are useless they are good to take for a walk and making people turning their heads.

My brother-in-law had an English Mastiff, highly ferocious but amazingly loyal dog, very good with children and not at all friendly with strangers. But it eats a lot and can be expensive to adopt.

In Pursuit of Happyness
Lab: Too docile to be a watchdog, very greedy for food, tends to overeat whenever possible, has got very weak liver, mostly develop stomach/liver related problems but very very friendly for kids.

Dober: Very ferocious, not at all recommended at home with kids.

GSD: A great dog, which will keep people scared & be docile with owner at the same time, However cleanness/hygiene is a serious issue. Owner need to take good care of the dog.

Whatever dog you choose, make sure someone in family (or maybe you) should take regular care of the dog, right from stool training to daily exercise, one has to devote some time on regular basis, else it become more of a headache than an asset. Also do play with your dog for sometime again on daily basis to develop a good bond with him.

i love lab, i kept lab till 18 months after that i have to give him to my friend as we cannot do proper care which is very much required for dogs.....

Lab is very friendly to children, my younger son is everytime hitting him very badly but he doesn't do anything to my child..

i love my lab

Thanks for the suggestions Turbo. Now its more like its Doberman Vs GSD. Both have 1 problem i.e. Ferociousness Vs Long Hair. Am I missing any other breed here?

Insanity is Hereditary
Prasham I have had both GSD and Doberman for two months each before my mom ran out of patience and I duly handed them over to Turbohead to take care of them further. Unfortunately after some time GSD was stolen and Doberman died post a brief illness. Turbo has had a lab too.

Lab is my personal choice and will definitely be my next pet but given your requirements it doesnt suit at all.

I think you should finalise on GSD as it fulfills all your criteria. Since all the characteristics have already been listed I would just add that GSD is a very intelligent dog whereas doberman is really dumb. I wouldnt advice a doberman at all.
