Ladakh Inner Line Permit

Since the ILP is not required at Korzok, wouldn't it be easier to cover it while going from Manali if one plans to exit from Srinagar? Stay can be arranged at Chumathang if Korzok is to be avoided specifically. And, any idea if there is any checkpost at Mahe turn off for Yaye Tso? If not, one can cover that too and head to Leh back via Chumathang.
Yes, you can do Tso Moriri while going from Manali to Leh. As per the previous update, there was some check post 15-17km from Mahe turn towards Yaye tso. No recent updates. Yaye Tso is not on the road, but off the track. tsk1979 might provide the latest info.

I don't think anybody is going to stop you from reaching Yaye Tso.
The check post at Mahe will just take your ID. Just tell them you are going to Nyoma. Simple

Leh'd and how!
There is no checkpost on that route and the road is tarred all the way. We didn't go beyond Hor la though.

Hello,

Is permit required to reach Mitpal Tso via Chumathang, Mahe, Yaye tso route? We won't go till Chushul but will come back from Mitpal Tso. Also, can I please get an update if the permits to Chushul, Hanle, Chumur and Marsimik La are being issued this year easily?

Thanks

While technically you can do it, without needing permit. It is better to play it safe and get the permit for Chushul route. Permit for the most part are being issued for Chushul, though Chummur and Marsimik La are tough to get.

A very nice and informative thread. I just had a couple of queries.
1) Can we do Manali to Tso Moriri without permit? Should we take route as per gmaps?
2) Being seasoned highway drivers and visiting Ladakh 2nd time, how much time should we take from Manali to Tso Moriri in an average diesel sedan?
3) Can we pitch our own tent near the lake? If not, is some kind of accommodation possible nearby to the lake?

Many thanks for the helpful information. Its for a group of friends who will be doing end of the month. They will halt one day at Sarchu and another in Karzok if everything goes smooth.

How is the route from Tso Moriri to Pangong. Is it motorable? I also understand permits are required if we want to take Chushul route from Tso Moriri to Pangong. For this, can it be obatained in advance and copies of it be shown(if agent sends scan copy) or it has to be original permit?

Guys,

First post in this great forum, so please be kind :)

I am planning to do the Chhadar Trek in Ladakh with a friend from Hong Kong.

He is a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China passport holder. Will he require a inner line permit for the trek. Does the tour agency normally arrange it? Is it a problem getting one as he he is SAR Hong Kong , China passport holder?

Also which is a good agency to go with ?
