I believe one need permit to cross Rohtang enroute to Leh.
YS sir , Tanveer sir can you pls clarify the doubt.
What are the possible ways to obtain the permit to cross Rohtang?
I am really apprehensive as I have made hotel bookings for manali, leh, pangong and need to get permit to stay on schedule. I am reaching manali on saturday so need to have permit to cross rohtang with me.

Can Manali to Leh permit (for car) be obtained online? I heard its starting on 9th June but can't find any link for the same.

Permit are issued on the spot, you cannot obtain them online as of now.

Thanks Yogesh sir. So this means I don't require to obtain any permit beforehand (from DC office) as it was earlier? I will get it on the way at checkpost?

Quite a relief to know that. So now no worries to go to SDM office for permit.
I am reaching Manali on 9th July (2nd Saturday) and will leave for leh on 10th (Sunday). I hope sunday is not a problem for on the way permit offices. i.e. permit camp is not issuing permits on Sunday.
Ah what all places on the way one can get permits to reach leh?

Last year permit was available at Gulaba, should be the same this year as well. Check with your hotel in Manali.

I called up SDM office manali and they informed that permits for manali to leh are issued from their office only and no other place.

My plan is as below (of course if the current issues in Kashmir are sorted):
Jammu-Srinagar-Kargil-Batalik/Dah-Hanu- Leh - Nubra (either till Turtuk or Panamik and back) - leh - Pangong - Marismik La - Merak - Chushul - Hanle - Korzok (tso moriri) - Pang- Manali - Chandigarh
1) Do I need ILP for Batalik/Dah Hanu? If yes, can it be obtained from Kargil only or any other place before kargil also?
2) I would require ILP for Marismik La, Chushul & Hanle which can be obtained at Leh, Correct? Do I need to mentioned any other name on the route while applying for the permit (any other villages/places on the way)?

It says "Apply permit for Rohtang (For Tourism Purpose)"
