In a bid to make it easier for the tourists to obtain inner line permit, LAHDC has taken the permit system online at http://lahdclehpermit.in/ and make it possible for Indian tourists to directly obtain inner line permit online. In case of foreigners, their travel agent would have to obtain the permit for them and they too can do it online.
However, while the permit system has been taken online, there is no way for a domestic tourist to pay for the permit online! This essentially means, if you’re applying for permit online, you will still have to go to TIC Office in the Main Market of Leh, in order to pay the appropriate fees, in order to obtain the permit or go through a travel agent, who can do this for you, through his/her account.
Furthermore, online inner line permit application will not allow you to obtain permit for places like Marsimik La, Hanle, Chushul, Tsaga etc. and for these, you will still have to visit the DC Office or the TIC Office.
We are trying to obtain further clearity on this matter and will share it here, once we have it.
