Hello Everybody,

I am Shri Saroj Majumder, a school teacher of physics, love to travel. When I get time and opportunity, I go out for a solo trip with my bike bajaj avenger street 220. This time I left for Ladakh, alone with my bike. I left home in Kolkata on 5th September 2022, Monday and visited Ladakh and returned home on 21st September 2022, Wednesday (17 days & 6,380 Km Ride). I wrote a travelogue about my solo Ladakh tour. I ride to Umling La on 15th September-2022 during my Solo Ladakh Ride.

5th September-2022, Monday, Day-1 (Kolkata, West Bengal to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh) :

If you want to travel by motorcycle, you have to make all the preparations in advance, such as getting the bike serviced, luggage, helmet and action camera ready, etc. A good sleep is not supposed to come from excitement at night and it is happened. I woke up at 2:15 am in the night, took a bath, prepared myself and my bike, and left my house in Belgharia alone at 3:22 am in the morning for Ladakh. After crossing Burdwan through Bali Bridge, Dankuni, Gurap, Shaktigarh, day light comes. Along with the National Highway-19, I came to Maithon via Durgapur, Raniganj, Asansol and after crossing the Barakar river, I crossed the border of West Bengal and entered the state of Jharkhand. After arriving in Jharkhand, I had breakfast at 8:30 am in the morning with two rotis with sour curd and a cup of black tea. There are many sword and stick shops on both sides of National Highway-19 in Jharkhand. Crossing the Falgu river bridge via Topchanchi, Jamtara, Borhi, Chauparan, I left Jharkhand and entered the state of Bihar. On both sides of National Highway-19, I saw a lot of kash flowers blooming all over the road. Going through Aurangabad, Sone River, Dehri, Sasaram, Shivsagar and after crossing the bridge over the Karmansar River, I left Bihar and came to Uttar Pradesh. In the afternoon I took lunch in Uttar Pradesh with Veg-Fried Rice and Sour Yoghurt. I crossed the bridge over the river Ganges at Varanasi and proceeded along the National Highway-19. Finally, after riding a distance of 730 km, leaving behind the city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, I reached Gopiganj at 5:30 pm, where I will spend the night today.

I did not carry any Jerry Can during my solo ladakh ride. I carried a 5 Litre Portable Collapsible Plastic Storage Tank Bag (5000 ml ).

6th September-2022, Tuesday, Day-2 (Varansi to Agra, Uttar Pradesh) :

Woke up at 3 am hearing the sound of the alarm on my mobile phone. I quickly got out of bed, took a bath, put my luggage on my bike and left Gopiganj in Uttar Pradesh at 4:30 am for Agra, along the National Highway-19. At 6 o'clock I saw the river Ganga again for the third time, at Dhimi in Uttar Pradesh. When I left my house early morning yesterday, I saw the river Ganges at the Bali Bridge in Dakhineswar, and in the afternoon at Varanasi. Had breakfast at 8:30 am in the morning.

In this context, it is worth mentioning that my daily food menu on this Ladakh ride was like this - two rotis and sour curd in the morning with black tea, veg-fried rice and sour curd in the afternoon and two rotis and sour curd in the night, with few exceptions (Due to Unavailability). Besides that, I used to take two T-breaks, one in the morning and other in afternoon. Out of Gopiganj in Uttar Pradesh & After crossing the cities of Prayagraj, Kanpur, Etawah, I reached the Agra-Lucknow Expressway around 1 pm.

I entered the Agra-Lucknow Expressway by paying a toll fee of Rs 85. It should be mentioned that bike riders also have to pay toll fee on this Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Great road. I rode my bike fast through the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, thereafter took the Agra Inner Ring Road and reached the Agra hotel around 2:30 pm. The total journey of this day was 527 km.

After a quick lunch and a little rest, I left the hotel with my bike around 4 pm for the Taj Mahal visit. I parked my bike at the Taj Mahal West-gate parking. I took a ticket at Rs 50 from the ticket counter and entered the Taj Mahal campus. The Taj Mahal campus was filled with the fragrance of Champa flowers (Plumeria). The Taj Mahal looked very beautiful in the late afternoon with the sunsetting rays. River Yamuna flows behind the Taj Mahal. I bought a ticket at Rs 210 & entered the main Taj Mahal minaret. An the middle of the main Taj Mahal minaret there is Mumtaz's tomb and next to it, that of Emperor Shah Jahan.

KOLKATA TO LADAKH SOLO RIDE

7th September-2022, Wednesday, Day-3 (Agra, Uttar Pradesh to Jalandhar, Punjab) :

I started today's journey at 4:40 am. After taking a bit of a wrong road at first, I took the Agra Inner Ring Road & I reached the entry toll gate of India's fastest expressway, Yamuna Expressway. Here also bikers have to pay toll fee. I started my journey on Yamuna Expressway in the darkness of dawn giving the toll fee of rupees 205. I saw the Local peoples were busy in morning exercise on the road. Beautiful road. The joy of riding on such roads in the early morning is different. There are three petrol pumps on the Yamuna Expressway, slightly off the main road. I filled the bike with petrol from one such petrol pump and reached Greater Noida. From there I went to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. After leaving Uttar Pradesh, I entered Sonipat in the state of Haryana, where I started riding again after having breakfast today. Going through Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Ludhiana & Phagwara, travelling 624 km distance, I arrived at 5:30 pm in the afternoon at Jalandhar city in the state of Punjab, where I will spend the night today. Numerous roadside lemon juice shops and industrial hubs in Punjab will attract the attention of tourists.
