Ladakh Travel Guide

Hey vikarm
You can book there itself after reaching leh. Then you can bargain and see the hotel services .there are lot of hotels in leh of each and every range
I myself have stayed as low as 300 rs and the room was very nice
So go there and search a little you can finalize it in half n hour time after looking at 2-3 hotels

Happy landing
There are lot of homestay's also available near pangong tso,tso moriri

You can also stay there if the budget is less
I personally like the feel of home stay as you can see the life of the people living in those harsh conditions
You can easily get homestay's for as lower as 250rs which includes your stay and dinner

Happy landing

1) In the above trip, would petrol cans be necessary?
2) Should we be booking for tents in advance for Pangong?
Vikram on each day of your journey try to leave hotel or tents early in morning as crossing of water and nallahs become easier as early as you cross.after 12 it become very difficult
And from leh to manali try to stay at jispa or pang .as sarchu is at very high altitude and could be hit by AMS even you have stayed at leh or been to khardungla

Rest seems fine

Sure thing. Will keep that in mind about Jispa.

About water crossings, which routes will i be having them and which is the best place to get gum boots.

Every route will have water crossing. Water crossing is basically snow melting on the passes and glaciers

And you don't need gum boots for that
Just wear a nice riding water proof shoes and if you don't have water proof shoes for buy gaiters they will cover the shoes while crossing and save your shoes

Just few points to note:

1. Permits are no more required. You just need to collect the forms in multiple copies which you need to submit at different checkposts. The forms are available in any photocopy shop in Leh market. (Can somebody please upload a scanned copy of that form?)
2. Petrol cans - You can get them in multiple shops at Leh market. But my humble suggestion - never go for it. They get cracked, whatever amount of care you take for them - the rough roads in passes will get them cracked and you'll lose petrol. Rather go for two 2 ltr Coke bottles. 4 ltrs of Petrols wil be sufficient for you, and Coke bottles are harder, they will not break easily.

Hi Rishita,

It seems like no one replied to your query for quite some time.

Please let me know,
1. From where are you starting
2. What is the mode of transport
3. How many days would you like to spend on this journey - end to end?
