YS,I think the Batalik route should be included in Leh-Shrinagar.
I haven't been through Lamayuru route,but Batalik.And from everybody,I heard that Batalik one is far more better than Lamayuru. So...shouldn't it be an option in the guide?

Hey Shradha,welcome to BCMT....
Yeah,your friend is right.Most of the roads in Ladakh are closed in winters because of snow.The season starts from May last week or June 1st week,depends.....and the roads are open till October.
Well August is the best time,but if you want snow,then June or Oct are better....

I have a doubt plz.i think 2/3 of lake is in china..how chinese tourist travel to this place and from which side?

Indian soldiers, who patrolled the stunningly beautiful Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh, rarely got the opportunity to enjoy the scenery. As their vintage assault boats approached the Line of Actual Control with China (two thirds of the 134-kilometer long lake is under Chinese control) sleek Chinese speedboats would surge towards them, turning sharply away at the last minute to strike a glancing blow that rocked the Indian boats.
Indian soldiers were sometimes thrown out of their boats by the impact, but they had to bear the indignity. Since 1993, when China and India signed an Agreement on Peace and Tranquillity, not a shot has been fired on the LAC.
To restrain the Chinese boat-bumpers, India equipped its lake patrols a couple of years back with bigger, more rugged, army assault boats. But, even if the bumping stopped, the Chinese boats still ran rings around the Indians.

Ladakh is a cold desert, and there is never enough snowfall to have 10 foot high snow falls. So even the high passes close for a max couple of days in winter. Most of the normal roads have a couple of inches of snow at most, and entire ladakh region is motorable. However, the passes on way to Ladakh are the ones which close down, leading to the region being cut off.

There cannot be a highway through the lake, they may have some road close it. Even on the Indian side such a road exists !

Chinese have a pretty good rood on their side, even along the Pangong Tso. The one on the Indian side is essential a dirt trail.
