Scarlet Amidst the Greens
The red Rugtoora (Spathodea) blooms amidst the monsoon greenery near Eravikulam National Park, Munnar, India
After having extended my day ride on a whim to explore the Munnar hills for Neelakurinji flowers, I set out to search for the blue shrub on day two. The Neelakurinji flowers blooms once in 12 years and this is the year of bloom.
However the mountains were more green interspersed with red than blue. Slopes after slopes were covered with tea gardens.
Munnar scenery was pleasant as it always is and I was having fun using the Pen-F, I recently acquired.
The picture above was taken a little before the entrance to Eravikulam National Park. The road passes though some beautiful tea gardens. Across the valley is a dense forest and ground water seeping out as a small waterfall in the distance.
