Jacaranda Terraces

Jacaranda Trees bloom amidst the terraced farm in Someshwar Valley, Uttarakhand, India

Several Km before Someshwar the road coming from Almora starts tracking the Kosi River, mostly along the valley bed. Between the road and the river is an extremely fertile land dotted with houses and terraced fields. The road itself is fenced with trees of various kinds, many of those being the Jacaranda trees. Late spring these trees are in full bloom creating a purple canopy in the sky.

This picture was taken on a short day bike ride from Nainital to Someshwar Valley. I had taken a small break to photograph the fallen Jacaranda flowers and noticed how the purple flowers contrasted against the fields behind. far way the forest smoked in the fires of summer.

Nice. The warm light and cold night sky makes for amazing contract. Wish the power lines weren't there.
Thank you. I have stopped hoping for them to not be present or removing them from photographs. These days they are everywhere and it seems like the picture is incomplete without them :D.
