Laundry facilities in major cities

How are laundry facilities for travelers in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc. I was looking at washer and dryers that travellers can use but it seems that these machines are behind the counter in India. Also, the places are also listed as "dry cleaners." Is dry cleaning definition expanded in India to include regular laundry where you give clothes over the counter and they wash and dry and return them to you?

Laundry Facility is not like US of A, where you go and put clothes in washing machine and use it then and there.
Laundry means Hotel Laundry mostly.
Dry Cleaners use mostly non water based chemicals to clean woolen or some high quality fabric that may get damaged with normal washing with water.
These people charge good amount per cloth depending on type of cloth.
Some Hostels / PGs may have own washing facilities but not open for general public.

There may be few such facilities like US of A but at selected places in Delhi.
Not seen.
Will try to find some.

As an example see this website: Home - DirtFree Drycleaners

They show washers and dryers in pictures and quote "kurta and Pajama." Who dry cleans kurta and pajama in traditional dry cleaning definition? I think they have expanded the definition to mean they will wash and dry it for you.

Look at the web site in post #4. I think the first website is really dry cleaning. Maybe kurta pajama are more like sherwani dry cleaning. The second website and I found a few more sites that rate laundry separate from dry cleaning. The laundry (washing, drying and folding) rates vary from :r: 60/kg to :r: 75/kg. That does not sound too bad especially if you deliver and pick up yourself. I think in that cost, you don't even have to worry about water and detergent, so I think people can use this service and save the trouble of buying washer and dryer at home.

I read reviews of the website and the only downside, which is speculation on my side, is that they may mix your clothes with others' clothes. If others' clothes release any color then your white clothes may come out rangbirangi.

Most hotels give in-house laundry services. They will wash and press the clothes of guest.
This is traditional washing inhouse only and pressing is done too. Things like underwears can be washed by guest in room's bathroom and dried there only.

Chandigarh small hotels do not have inhouse washing pressing facility but they outsource it from neighborhood shops and urban villages.

Great thread. I've been thinking in investing in the laundry service business and open my own store. The question here is - what brands should i use? Now i am checking electrolux appliances reviews here but would love to have few different options. What are your thoughts on that?
