Hussainiwala

We left the Amritsar hotel at 12:45 pm on 20 July 2017 and drove to Hussainiwala near Ferozpur by 4:30 pm. First, we visited the martyrs memorial, where Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were cremated on 23 March 1931. Later, we watched the retreat ceremony at the border. The specialty here is, the Indian soldier goes over to the Pakistani soil and lowers the Indian Tricolour. The Pakistani soldier comes to the Indian soil and lowers the Pakistan's national flag. Then, they cross each other and the flags reach their respective countries!

We started our home-ward drive from Hussainiwala at 7:30 pm, had late dinner at 10:30 pm on NH 1 after crossing Ludhiana, passed through Dellhi at the small hours, slept for a couple of hours at Yamuna Expressway, continued our drive and reached our hotel at Nagpur at 8:45 pm on the next day. We left Nagpur at 1:45 pm on 22 July 2017 and reached home, sweet home at 9 am on the next day.

Blue Diamond - aka Nexon XZA+ AMT Diesel - took us for a long ride of Chennai>Sach Pass>Ladakh>Ajmer Dargah>Chittorgarh Fort>Bangalore safely and comfortably. We arrived our Bangalore home at 3:15 am today.

Eagerly waiting for your detailed log narrating the experience of driving Nexon in a long journey from southmost to northmost corner of the country.
As you have previously made this route with other cars I expect you to give a comparative study of driving Nexon in this long journey like fuel consumption, comforts / discomforts of driving/ riding along with any breaking down experience.

J.Ravi and other experienced members here,

I live in Indore, MP. I need guidance in planning my Western Ghat trip, the one that probably I have been planning for years and had asked information about on TFI as well. I tried to look for the same in here, but failed to find the specific info I need. I have gathered bits-n-pieces from everywhere, but, an experienced traveller like you, can help me the most.

I have driven my Linea from Indore to Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru few times, gone to Vellore and even to Puducheri. I have done Ganpatipule via Mumbai-Goa highway and gone to places in Rajasthan, Gujraat and MP. But going to areas of Western Ghats in Karnataka & Kerala is my dream. I feel more comfortable down south.

I have about 15 days and I know that I can reach a suitable starting point like Karwar from Indore, in two days. What should be the plan from there? I have few names in mind like Murdeshwar, gokarn, Doodhsagar, Jog, Kudremukh, Agumbe, Madhikeri, Shivmoga, Chikmaglur (highest peak of south Western Ghats?). I do't want to go to regular tourist locations, but places of solitude, where Petro-Diesel driven guys go. I want to return via Hyderabad-Nagpur route. Or it may be the other way round.

Suggestions please!!

This was our third visit - but, maiden one for Blue Diamond - to Ladakh. The first one was via Srinagar in Sep 2011, the second was via Manali in July 2017 and the present one was via Sach Pass. We attempted to do Sach Pass>Leh twice in the last 5 years - in 2014 by erstwhile XUV 500 and 2016 by Thunderbird 500 - but in vein due to road closures because of bad weather. Both the times, we returned from Dalhousie/Chamba with the unfinished destination. So, this time, I changed my strategy and drove straight to Bairagarh, stayed there for the night and drove through Sach Pass, the next day!
