2 friends planned a Leh trip in June 2017..
We have flights tickets to Delhi and reaching on the 16th of June to delhi
Taking the night volvo to Manali..Reaching Manali on the 17th June.
Taking the taxi to Leh 18th June (Taxi suggestions and approx cost needed strictly for budgeting)
Places to see enroute and night halt suggestions most welcome.

we are planning to reach leh on the 19th afternoon and then after have 8 days in Leh (want to explore the usual tourist places..kardungla..pangon lake..the local site seeing places also want suggestions on unexplored places)
we would leave leh on the 28th for srinagar (suggestions and things to do enroute via that route)
we have our flight back on the 30th at 12:20 in the afternoon.

We both are photography enthusiasts and own gud camera equipment and have enough time to stop at places enroute and photograph.

also we would love to stay and experience local culture and food as we both are foodies also..so we are looking for suggestions on home stays with locals.

we will ditch our taxi in leh and also looking for bike hires there it would be helpful for that suggestion also.

would be glad to have help and suggestions in planning this trip from all the veterans of travel to this region

Taxi on shared basis are available from Manali to Leh. approx 2000 per head.

Hire bike for local sight seeing at Leh from bike rentals at Post office road.
You can get sharing in a taxi for Pangong side and Khardungla to Nubra Valley.

Infos on shared vehicles are easily available on various street-side travel agents around Changspa. Total cost of the vehicle is equally shared by the passengers.
Look out for posters on the glass windows of the various tour agents. Shared vehicles to Pangong and Nubra is too common in Leh.

Homestays are easily available in Spagmik village (Pangong) in the range of Rs 500-1000/person with food.
Bike rentals are located at Changspa (road towards Shanti Stupa). RE costs 1400-1600/day, Pulsar@ 800, ungeared scooters @600-800/day. Any idenity document is required to be surrendered to the rentals. Many bikes have gps attached. Test drive before renting is allowed and accepted norm.

We r photography enthusiast and would love the freedom to halt at places of intetest and place we want to stop at..so we will be looking for a taxi on our own.
Manali Taxi stand is best place to hire taxi from Manali.
Similarly Leh Taxi Stand is there in Ladakh !

If you’re planning to hire taxi, then it would be a good idea to spend the night at Jispa, and next day start at 5am from there to reach Leh by evening. This way you will avoid spending night at high altitude and at the same time can do photography.
