Hey Arun, have you considered doing Shimla>Kinnaur>Spiti>Kunzum La>Keylong and on to Leh? Would be a lot more rewarding than Shimla>Manali. But I'm not sure whether Kunzum La is open for traffic yet.

And if you are doing Shimla>Manali, try the Jalori Pass route. Much more adventurous. And if you don't want much adventure, go by the Chindi>Rohanda>Pandoh route. Very scenic.

Enjoy yourselves! :)

it was their's indigenius idea of serving beer in a family restaurant.
Since its mostly a family affair at the first level of the restaurant and the only TV of the restaurant is also on the same floor. So if you need to watch cricket with your folks and wanna enjoy too its only possible through the tea pot way.

Re: Biryani at Leh View restaurant, Leh

Avoid the chicken biryani .... it was oily fried rice dumped on chicken masala ... not "dum biryani" that we get else where.
Not quite the true blue biryani in that photo. Looks more like a Pulao.
Same problem with most places in Delhi - they try to pass off a pulao as a biryani!

And, Bee, some of us LOVE that oily food!!
Why, at times I eat a spoonful of that stuff which floats on top of all the food that Karachi has on offer! Oil, lard, or whatever else!!
