Lip-smacking dhaba near Mandi.

I made booboo and posted this in the hotels section. Posting this here now.

Hey guys just thought I'd tell you about this fantastic dhaba just on the out-skirts of Mandi, on the way to Manali.

It's called 'Bheemu Dhaba' and my oh my I literally crave for the food there. Little wonder that I have at least one meal at that place whenever I'm in Mandi.

Ok so when you cross the Mandi bus-stop, past the Gurudwara on the right - a little ahead you come to a petrol pump on the left. The last one in Mandi.
Keep going ahead. The place is known as 4 meel (mile) locally.
ride on for around 3 / 4 kms till you come across a smallish incline and a curve to the right.
On your left you'll see tar drums and some kinda road machinery (depends).
That's the place. Bheemu dhaba is on your right.
There are 2 dhabas side by side and the first one is the one.

Lovely people who'll serve you with affection. Lip-Smacking food.
The yummiest rajma. kaali daal, parathas, makhhan...
Eat to your hearts content and then eat some more and you'd probably end up spending around 50 / 70 bucks only!

wish i had known. just got back from a kullu manali trip. and the grub near pandoh dam was super horrible. can't remember the place. in all my travels this is the worst. 2 hotels in front of each other on the highway.

@alchemy...i think one of them was a shere punjab and we decided to go to the one in front of it. it was pathetic. we hardly ate anything. i feel its best to eat in small dhabas, the food is tasty and the service is warm in these small dhabas.

So true!
And it's due, in no small part, to the fact they haven't yet made enough money to buy a deep freeze!
Fresh food, that's all they have!

youre absolutely right anup uncle. apart from the food the service at these small dhabas are so warm. some of these joints are not even dhabas but more like a small food joint in a dukaan. but the food we have had there has been better than any resturant. i spl like when they urge u to have some more dal or more rotis....feels like home.
@ anupuncle ..i am still waiting for ure advice on the gaushaini, nagini, kasol etc circuit. just want to know if it will be ok the road conditions in the rain. spl gaushaini as roads r bad as it is .

Last week I had a fabulous lunch (4 types of Dal with plain rice) in a dhaba half way between Mandi and Jogindernagar for 60 rupees (or such). They keep refilling your plate all the time and the place was packed with locals. (The other dhabas were not busy at all.)

The name of the place is Foji dhaba and the sign has Vodafone on both sides of the name.
It's on the left hand side coming from Mandi, in a cluster of 6'ish shops/dhaba's.
On road 154 from Mandi to Jogindernagar, 14 km's before the split in the road to Barot in a village named Nalba or Alba or something close that

They actually serve Local Dham over dere, the kind of food that is served in local marriage functions.
And yeah, it is delicious

Hi Alchemy,

On your recommendation in this thread we stopped at the Bheemu Dhaba on our way to Tirthan Valley in June 2013.
The food was excellent, and the people were warm.
I told them that you had put a good review of their dhaba on the internet and they were very happy.
I gave them a printout of your post recommending their Dhaba.
