Congratulations and the black beauty looks awesome. Here's wishing you many many happy miles....

Going thru your initial posts of selling Ford Figo, I was feeling as if you have narrated my story. Exactly same reasons I sold my 2011 Figo at 1.3lac odo, sold at ₹1.3Lac only.

The difference is you have already bought a new car and I'm still deliberating whether to go Petrol or Diesel as my annual running is around 20K KMs.

Vipin,
I read through your events and I am of the opinion that you raise a case with Hyundai India seeking compensation [Minimum cost claim is for 7 tyres at Tyre MRP] . They have not provided you tyres suitable for Indian roads. The selection of the tyre profile on Verna is not right for Indian roads.
Manufacturers want to save cost by providing bigger rims and lower aspect ratio [to save on their sensors] and as customers we suffer. NO WAY this should be tolerated.
I am of the opinion that India needs tyres with higher aspect ratio.

It is good that you have increased the side profile of your tyres.

I had a bad impression on Goodyear due to my experience with Indica during 2003; but now on my car I have fitted Goodyear.

Great Upgrades !
Great Effort !
Thanks Satinder Ji

Looks good. How is ride quality now? Any clearance issue?
Ride Quality is not very harsh any longer, it has toned down a bit. Also, I did not notice any changes to the handling of car. What I liked is the increased ground clearance that my car has after tire profile increase.

Good Year is not a soft compound tire hence, there is 3 -4% increase in tire noise but Verna is a well damped car and you will not hear much road noise in it. Had it been Figo, the road noise would have been quite evident.

Thank you :)

If you buy a diesel which is not Ford's Duratorq then you will miss the sweetness of Duratorq engine. If you are buying a Petrol, you need to ensure that engine is powerful otherwise you will feel as if you have downgraded. From resale point of view Petrol makes sense as you buy it a lac cheaper and can sell it for a good price too if your car is well maintained.

Yes Deepam. I initially feel cheated and wanted to get compensated but I did not keep relevant references to make my case stronger. And you are right we need higher profile tire for Indian road conditions.

Good Bad & Ugly

I will compare my new car to my previous car because people need to know if it is really worth to spend more than twice on their next car.

Good- Verna is a feature loaded car and some of the features are really useful. It has a smart trunk where you just need to stand behind the trunk and if you have the key in your pocket, car will make 4-5 beeps and if you do not go away from trunk, trunk will automatically open. It is helpful when you have groceries in your hands and dont want to put them down. You really do not need to touch anything to open the trunk. This feature can be disabled from MID.

In Verna, front headlamps & fog lights are projectors and the headlamp cluster also consists of static bending lamp. Tails lamps are LED and look stunning at night. Basically, illumination is not a problem and I dont need to struggle on poorly lit roads any longer.

Music system of Verna has everything you may ask for. It comes with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, Navigation and 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. The sound is great and 95% of people would not feel a need for upgrade. I use Spotify to play music via Apple Car play. I do not use in built navigation as I am used to Google navigation.

My Figo did not come with any of these. If you talk about features I had Power Steering and Air conditioner.

Verna's engine is smooth, fast and silent. Figo also had smooth engine but it wasn't fast and silent. Verna is super silent and there is a feel good factor in it. You dont get much stressed as you dont hear unwanted noises. On the other hand, engine Noise and Road noise was quite pronounced in Figo.

Some features like auto headlamp, cruise control, cooled glove box, rear AC vents, push button start/stop, Full MID, Electric adjustable & Foldable orvms, automatic IRVM, climate control, rear defogger, Hyundai Autolink, keyless entry, speed sensing door locks are just good to have. I have lived without these features and still enjoyed the drive.

Important features - ABS, Airbags, occupants cannot open the door in a moving car, car alarms you if you get down in a running engine with keys in your pocket, rear parking camera & sensors (though I reverse car without them as I am not used to them), full MID shows which part will get hit while reversing and also shows a GIF of car showing which door is open including bonnet & trunk.

Still you can raise the note to HMIL, as for sure there will be records maintained with them.
Make an attempt so that they take notice.

Time to let you know not so good things about the car.

The Bad: Let's start with the bad things about the car now. Hyundai is not known for it's steering and handling and even though the 5th gen Verna is a tightest Hyundai with a stiff suspension and well weighted steering it is still no where near to Ford. My first gen Figo's steering and handling is comparable to entry level premium sedans (read entry level BMW) and it is no joke, drive it and believe it. Even after 7.5 years of ownership, the handling and steering of my Figo is better than my brand new Hyundai.

Pretentious steering: Its an EPS and gets heavier with speed and gets light at the parking speed. The fake heaviness of steering at the higher speeds does not improve it's handling.

Steering & handling of my Verna feels good when you compare it to all the previous gen's Verna and you will not feel that you are on a boat.

Figo has always put a smile on my face when I used to do 120-130 KMPH and it used to remain planted on road however, at these speeds my face looks critical in Verna. Don't get me wrong Verna can easily climb up to 150-160KMPH and so on in no time but you will get a feeling that it may loose it's composure soon. Figo was just a 68 BHP car with a smaller engine, dimensions and had lesser features too but it was fun to drive. It was dynamically accomplished car and did not need a 123 BHP engine to have fun with.

Seats of Verna are of soft compound compared to Figo. I prefer Figo's seats which are of harder compound and are more comfortable than Verna.

ORVM's are not auto folding. When Hyundai made this car with so many features why did they not put a relay which can auto fold the mirrors?

Tires - I have covered this already.

Small glove box is comparable to what I used to have in my 2003 Santro Xing.

Car lock & unlock sound is terrible.

Ugly: Have you ever been at the back seat of Honda City or Maruti Ciaz? If yes, you will get disappointed to know that the backseat space of Verna is not comparable to them. The funny thing is Honda City is Identical to Hyundai Verna in Dimensions and yet it has more back seat space and boot space then Verna. Infact, Figo's back seat space was better than Verna.

I am 5'6 and I am the tallest member of my family so, back seat space is not a challenge for me or my family but if you are a family of tall people you must consider the back seat space before buying it.

Chrome: Subtle chrome accents look good but here we have tons of chrome in front grill and in fog lamps. The base model Verna's front looks much better without chrome.
