Mahindra Mojo

It is not our job to think from company’s or designer’s perspective, in fact company officials appreciate if we leave strategies and designing etc. to them and just off load our consumer centric queries/recommendation on them (something I was personally told )!
Right. So, what should the people be doing now? And, how many prospective-Mojo-buyers are actually bothered to get a tank larger than 15 liter, which already is the largest in the country, and among the larger ones even if we talk of much bigger motorcycles globally. In my opinion, Mojo does not have a small range, by any standards.

Not really, if Mahindra is quoting 25kmpl for Mojo, then it is quite close to the kind of fuel efficiency people used to get from BMW F650!
I dont think I was able to make myself clear to you in my last post. I said a 'certain motorcycle', which in this case is Mojo. You will not be plonking in a BMW engine in it, I would presume. So, you dont have a choice here, if you are going to buy Mojo. Hence, the only practical way to increase the range is having a larger tank.

Because there are no touring bikes in India, all companies concentrate on city bikers and even the one which claims to produce touring motorcycle, wants to stick to design and features, which are best suited for a casual highway sprinter, than a hardcore touring buff!
Okay, I dont know this now. Is M&M claiming that Mojo is a tourer? Or, we want to force them to make it one, because no other company makes one for us?

See the touring motorcycles in US and other countries, they usually have a decent fuel tank capacity and then there are company produced optional fuel tanks with larger capacities!
How big are the tanks and what's their range?

Have a look at BMWs and KTMs, while they do not have too much extended range than Indian motorcycles, they do try to match them, by having larger tanks.
I just checked the KTM website, none of their motorcycles has tank larger than 19.5 liters (1000cc motorcycle), with most of the 400-600cc motorcycles having 10-12 liters only.

I would like to see your list of motorcycles that have a long range. I am really curious to know, because I do not know much about motorcycles and it would be great to see some motorcycles that can do long distances without refuelling.

How much range do we need, really? I mean, may be we can shoot off a letter to all these companies to keep in mind the guys who would need their motorcycles to do Tandi-Leh? Or better even Delhi-Mumbai without refuelling?

I say we should send a letter to M&M telling that all the buyers of your illfated motorcycle Mojo should have a mid-air err mid-way refuelling capabilities in partnership with Indian Air Force having their IL76/IL78 ever-deployed for such emergencies on the press of a button near the tachometer.

I rest my case.

Firstly, there is no need to get aggressive, as it then pressures others to respond in kind, which I am sure, you wouldn’t appreciate!

Now coming to your points:

Right. So, what should the people be doing now? And, how many prospective-Mojo-buyers are actually bothered to get a tank larger than 15 liter, which already is the largest in the country, and among the larger ones even if we talk of much bigger motorcycles globally. Who cares about prospective Mojo buyers? I for one do not represent anyone and neither do you! Each of us is presenting our views on a new motorcycle, which is about to hit the Indian roads! So why should I or for that matter anyone else, adorn the coat of Mahindra’s research team and seek out what majority wants?

If I need a motorcycle with 600km range, then I don’t give a damn about lakhs of people, who are satisfied with 150km range and would like my bike to feature what I want, not what others need!

I dont think I was able to make myself clear to you in my last post. I said a 'certain motorcycle', which in this case is Mojo. You will not be plonking in a BMW engine in it, I would presume. I do have a choice, I can chose to buy a BMW or another Indian motorcycle capable of 600km without refuel or continue using the one I have!

Okay, I dont know this now. Is M&M claiming that Mojo is a tourer? Or, we want to force them to make it one, because no other company makes one for us?
If I or for that matter, anyone else could have forced them or any other motorcycle manufacturer to make a certain type/kind of motorcycle, we would have done it long time ago. However, this does not entail that we cannot present our views in public!

I would like to see your list of motorcycles that have a long range. I am really curious to know, because I do not know much about motorcycles and it would be great to see some motorcycles that can do long distances without refuelling.
I don’t need to make a list, mine can do 600-700km without hitting the reserve and that is good enough at the moment for me!

I think its ok to post one's opinions- irrespective if one buys the bike or not. For example I wish the Ninja 250 had a digital speedo ;)

But then on the contrary- it would rather be better to ask M&M if the parts would be available in case the bike breaks down if you taking it to some far flung place.

I feel here in India "Beggars can't be choosers" fit the situation. If you want something different- forget the manufacturers, they're gonna do nothing. Just DIY.

BTW just to inform Dr. Arnob has fabricated a new fuel tank (I guess its 18 or 20 litres) for his other bike (its a big bike)...now that takes the capacity to almost 35-38 litres :)

@torqueaddict
why do you need such a big tank? we have petrol pumps almost every 100 kms to refuel, right? :)
also you are never gonna get lost in the wilderness in india.and anyone who undertakes such a trip would have planned for it.

Bajaj is selling 220 Avenger and Pulsar within approx 75K. I certainly feel they can do a genuine 350 or above within 1.5k.

Paying 1L extra above the p220 just for a 5bhp upgrade is a definite no no for me.
