Right. So, what should the people be doing now? And, how many prospective-Mojo-buyers are actually bothered to get a tank larger than 15 liter, which already is the largest in the country, and among the larger ones even if we talk of much bigger motorcycles globally. In my opinion, Mojo does not have a small range, by any standards. It is not our job to think from company’s or designer’s perspective, in fact company officials appreciate if we leave strategies and designing etc. to them and just off load our consumer centric queries/recommendation on them (something I was personally told)!
I dont think I was able to make myself clear to you in my last post. I said a 'certain motorcycle', which in this case is Mojo. You will not be plonking in a BMW engine in it, I would presume. So, you dont have a choice here, if you are going to buy Mojo. Hence, the only practical way to increase the range is having a larger tank. Not really, if Mahindra is quoting 25kmpl for Mojo, then it is quite close to the kind of fuel efficiency people used to get from BMW F650!
Okay, I dont know this now. Is M&M claiming that Mojo is a tourer? Or, we want to force them to make it one, because no other company makes one for us?Because there are no touring bikes in India, all companies concentrate on city bikers and even the one which claims to produce touring motorcycle, wants to stick to design and features, which are best suited for a casual highway sprinter, than a hardcore touring buff!
How big are the tanks and what's their range?See the touring motorcycles in US and other countries, they usually have a decent fuel tank capacity and then there are company produced optional fuel tanks with larger capacities!
I just checked the KTM website, none of their motorcycles has tank larger than 19.5 liters (1000cc motorcycle), with most of the 400-600cc motorcycles having 10-12 liters only.Have a look at BMWs and KTMs, while they do not have too much extended range than Indian motorcycles, they do try to match them, by having larger tanks.
I would like to see your list of motorcycles that have a long range. I am really curious to know, because I do not know much about motorcycles and it would be great to see some motorcycles that can do long distances without refuelling.
How much range do we need, really? I mean, may be we can shoot off a letter to all these companies to keep in mind the guys who would need their motorcycles to do Tandi-Leh? Or better even Delhi-Mumbai without refuelling?
I say we should send a letter to M&M telling that all the buyers of your illfated motorcycle Mojo should have a mid-air err mid-way refuelling capabilities in partnership with Indian Air Force having their IL76/IL78 ever-deployed for such emergencies on the press of a button near the tachometer.
I rest my case.
