From the reports I am getting (BRO 111 RCC), Baralachala is closed since yesterday morning as there was another avalanche on the night of the 23rd. Did anyone cross yesterday? Please let us know...
Please recheck from your sources ( if they are reliable) about Baralacha pass. Countryside group reached Manali from Leh Yesterday.
though there were traffic jams , since the road is open for oneway
traffic and there is lot of Cumulated vehicles.
PLEASE do let us know , from your sources the news about the avalanche at Baralachala.

Just managed to reach manali from sarchu. Reached the base of baralacha la from sarchu yesterday evening at 4. There is a VERY bad stretch of about 100m which acts as the primary bottle neck, would not suggest vehicles with low ground clearance to try it. We were stuck there since all the local sumos were getting stuck in the icy slush, we eventually had to turn back to sarchu at 8 pm.

Today we reached the same spot at 7 am. And had to wait till about 12pm only after that and thanks to a bulldozer the patch was barely managable, it had started snowing at 6 am or maybe earlier and it was still snowing when we crossed the pass at 1 pm.

Would not suggest people with cramped
schedule to go to leh via manali. Bikers should do fine. baralacha la is completely covered in snow. Will be able to post pictures/videos by sunday.

ttempt baralacha la.

This indeed is not a good news ! We are taking a Innova on 29th June
Halt at Jispa. 30th June - Jispa to sarchu .U think that in the next
4 days the Baralachala will be OK to travel by SUV.
Please give your views.

Well the road should be in the same condition as now by 28th. Would suggest that you leave jispa as early as possible to reach "that" bad stretch early. Assume that you might have to wait there for 4-5 hours. Or turn back to jispa to come again another day if you reach late.

Pray it does not snow heavily.

innovas should do fine.

I was trailed by a swift today :). It barely managed to clear the strecth with some nasty jolts underneath. i had kept my tow rope in his car just in case... Thankfully we did not eventually use it.

manali overcrowded. Would advise people with no acco. Bookings and doing manali leh to reach manali early.

I finally got a room in kullu !

Dear Harsh,
Many thanks for the prompt replies, even after having gone through a harrowing time in the passes.
If you could send latest information about Baralachala ,it would be very useful.
THANKS again.

I talked on mobile phone to One Mr Ritesh who Manages the tents at Sarchu.
He crossed Baralacha yesterday from Sarchu to Keylong.
He Said " The Baralacha pass is open but as only a single lane is open at the pass , traffic jams are long"

He also commented
on the lack of discipline amongst our Drivers as a factor that aggravates
the block. The Weather a t Keylong was clear today.
He sounded reasonably optimistic.
Let us hope for the BEST.
