To cross the nalaa, one have to drive the car in 1st gear in constant high speed . In middle do not reduce the speed till you cross the naala. Water is not very deep but due to rocks one have to face the problem.

regarding uphill/downhill from Leh side, it is more or less the same from both side.

Regarding vehicle, I think xylo is better then innova.

Regarding mobile network, MTNL/BSNL rocks but many times network problems. Airtel is better but no network in remote area.

Regarding accommodation in Sarchu, there is no need to book in advance if you reach Sarchu by 4 PM, as you are going in the month of july with your wife, so it is better to book in advance if you think that you will reach after 4. But my suggestion is to cross Baralacha by 1-2 PM, and stay in Pang(if coming from Manali) or stay in Jispa(if coming from LEh).

Black safari. Was traveling with my wife. Just the two of us.

We had waited till 8pm that day and then finally returned to sarchu. Waited from 7am to 12pm the next day to finally cross.

reached delhi last night at 3am.
Yeah, I noticed you. I think you were with your another friend who was in scorpio. It prooves that world is small.

Thanks a lot for all the updates
as we are planning to go to leh on 9th July so i think the situation would be better in baralacha where ppl are getting stuck..
can anyone please help me with the accomodation prices as we area large group so its possibel to book for 20-25 ppl in advance.. does anyone know any phone number of any guy out there who does the booking part.
we are not looking for swiss tents but we want to have normal tents.
also is its feasible to reach sarchu from manali in a day? and then from sarchu to leh in a day?

Dear Aryagill ji,

No, not Keylong, it is advisable to stay at Manali to cross the Rohtang Pass next day as early as possible in the morning i.e. before 8 AM otherwise you will surely stuck in the long Jam at many places created by the vehicles of thousands of tourists who go to Rohtang Pass to enjoy the snow point in the morning and return in the evening. Again no, not direct to Leh in one go reason being one has to acclimatize his body to gain heights so at least one stay is essential between Manali and Leh coze the Tanglangla Pass is 17582 Fts. which can creat problem of high altitude sickness, so it is better to stay either at Sarchu or Pang in tents.

Wishing you a safe and pleasant journey.

Top Singh Bodh.
