Map: Ladakh & Zanskar (All routes)

Can we do a Spangmik-Tangse-Erath-Mahe-Chumathang route or this too is not allowed without ILP ?
The Tangtse - Erath - Chushul - Mahe route is out of bounds for all civilians. Sadly this is not yet depicted on the map. It is even more difficult to get permit for this road than for the Pangong route to Chusul because of sensitive army installations. So far I've heard of only person to have done this route on BCMT in the past 4 years.

Hello guys,

I have some quarries about this map.

1. Is that true Karu and Diskit has fuel pump and easily available?
2. Is that possible to take the route Pangong-Tangtse-Durbuk-Shyok Village-Agrm-Khalsar-Diskit by Royal Enfield? And is there any special permit need to avail this route?

Expecting I shall be there by next year Aug. Need all your suggestion.

1. Both have petrol pumps but fuel at Diskit petrol pump is available once in blue moon.

2. You can, but you will have to cross Shyok River couple of times and after May, flow in the river goes up substantially. No permit needed for this route, since technically it isn't open and isn't near LOC/LAC.

Hi guys I propose some changes in the map.

Used this map extensively in all my 3 trips to Ladakh and they proved really helpful however this time I felt need for some changes with regards to terrains. All these are basis as per my trip in Oct/Nov 14

  • Road from Upshi to Kumdok is under renovation with project end date as June 15
  • Time taken from Leh to Chumathang was 6 hrs with barely 15 mins of stoppage in between
  • Rhongo to Hanle is fresh laid tar and apart from occasional causeways to break the speed all goes smooth (Sonam informed that Hanle got disconnected from Ladakh for 5 days in 2013 because of snow enroute and that's why they are putting fresh tar and preparing for the worst of scenarios)
  • Loma - Tsaga La (Chagga La) - Chusul is all Katchha with 4x4 preferred vehicle
  • Chusul - Erath - Padna is all dug up with proposed end time as June 2017
  • Padna - Tangtse is normal tar road
  • Took me 12 hrs to reach Tangtse from Hanle via Chusul Erath route

Dear @Yogesh-sarkar.2 bhai

I'm Ripan from Bangladesh.
I will be in Srinagar on July 26.
Staying 1/2 nights at Srinagar, we, 2 friends will travel through Srinagar - Kargil - Leh - Manali-Delhi

Earlier We thought of Srinagar-Leh highway only, but after reading the Ladakh-zanskar June 2014 thread, I am very much interested in Kargil-Rangdum-Padum sightseeing.

Which travel mode will be best in terms of cost effective & sightseeing? Can we go by bus to Padum, then sightseeing there by local taxi & come back by taxi to kargil? or exit near leh [if any route exists]

I will start from Leh to manali on 4 july. So, I can start for Padum from kargil 30 june morning [can even start 29 june, if required].

pls give me an [ITINERARY WITH PRICE IDEA] for this period [30 june to 3 july]? If I back to Kargil again, enroute Kargil to Leh, I would love to stay 1 night in between Kargil & Leh so that I can visit the sightseeing places. I am interested in magnetic hill, sangam area, mulbek, lamayuru, Alchi, Nimmoo + monastery visit too.

PLS NOTE: PLS GUIDE ME ON RESTRICTION ISSUE as I heard [just heard] that for Kargil-Padum, Zanskar area, no restriction is there for BANGLADESHIS.
