Metro Ride On The Mall, Mussoorie

In the morning, we rode up the cable car to Gun hill, which is the 2nd highest point in Mussoorie, at 2024m.

The peak is so named as a big gun was fired each noon, just to tell the time.

Once the British quit India, their gun was melted to make taps.

The 400 meters ride up the ropeway took not even 5 minutes.

There was a regular mela at the top.
This ropeway was set up in 1970, and continues to remain popular.

As children (rather teens), we would often travel to mussourie as we bunked school. Having seen the place in its true natural glory, and thick forest cover, it is extremely painful to witness the madenss that it has to withstand now. There were no digicams back then, so sadly, the beauty is in my memory only :)

Re: Dinner On The Mall, Mussoorie

..... for dinner at a fine restaurant we had discovered.
Indeed a fine restaurant. Once we had a rotary meeting there, and I had the best "Tomato Soup" of my life !!!! I tried to replicate it but failed. The tastes still lingers.
The dinner was very good but the soup was exceptionally good; so good that I gifted a book on restaurant management to the manager.

Now that you have raised the topic, may be I would visit the restaurant again in Sept, as I am off to Nainital for a ten day break starting tomorrow.
