This is tempting
Yes it is. I have seen really good chicken and mutton recipes in this forum so thought of putting something good for the bunnies

Gosh, this brought a flood of cherished old Bombay memories back!
that is the exact point. I am sure this will make sure that the mathurs' will have a missal party in near future.

a small beginning.

That's nice looking dish.
But we don't want nothing in a nutshell. All we need is detailed recipe with step by step pics
Sorry commenting late. Reason I was unaware how to multiquote the replies and also the mis-management of photos. Finally could not sort it.
But had to do something to make sure that it does not look like a nutshell packing. Have tried my hand at it.

Very tempting recipe! Will try it soon. Even I love hot and spicy food, esp. Pav Bhaji. So this one also should be my type!

After seeing this I am missing my Pune days.
There was a time when I did not like Misal from restaurants and some fancy places.
But then one day I took a junior to "Shree Upahaar Gruh" to eat Misal.
She loved the taste and more than that their serving style.
It felt like at home. Since then I always take non-Puneties there.

Yesterday I tried to prepare this.Success.All my family members enjoyed having it.
If you can do share some pics. Because I have not posted good pictures. And Misal always looks great.
Also I shall get a glimpse at what the final product can turn into if some one follows my exact recipe

Don't really remember any specific place, but we had a lot of 'misal' in Pune in the days gone by. Circa 1978, the canteenwallah in our college hostel used to make some mean misal.

Any gyan on 'usal pav!'

Were you a student of B J Medical?
Because the canteen of B.J.Medical, Law College, Bharati Vidyapeeth Dental, and Indira's Management are still good at there fare.
But thanks to you I shall try B.J. Medicals canteen very soon.

My mom prepares Usal with "Matar", fresh green peas.
she uses lots of grated coconut, green chillies, coriander leaves and lemons for this.
Usals are generally dry, so the Usal stays on heat till all the peas are nicely cooked, and allowed to soak up most up the gravy.

You tell me the name of the place where you enjoyed the usal most.
I can give you a proper recipe.(with my limited kitchen experience though).

Nope! I was in the rival med college near the race course on Sholapur road.

Sadly, that canteen has closed down.

No special place that I had usal in. Would love your recipe!

What is the difference between Behl and Misal? I think both are popular and I don't know the difference because it has been years since I ate anyone of those.
