The Mughal Road via Akhnoor, Sunderbani, Rajouri, Noorie Chamb and Shopian has now been opened to LMV traffic after snow clearance at the Peer ki Gali pass in the Peer Panchal mountain range.

Any info about the road conditions? When I went through this route last year in August, there lot of bridges and many sections under-construction between Bufliaz and Shopian, especially around Peer ki Gali.

This what I was wondering.
Is it the same enginneer who commited sucide after constructing that dangerous BYpass road.

Mughal Kings would use that shorter and safer route Delhi-Lahore-Maree-Shirinagr.

This road is named after Engineer ..... Mughal who died while getting this road constructed, not because it was ever used by Mughals.

Which one ancient Mughal aor current enginner one. :)
This confuses me. I thought Mughal is the same as Engineer one and is the longer one too. The other is NH1A
The road was historically used by Moghul emperors to travel and conquer Kashmir during the sixteenth century. It was the route used by Akbar the Great to conquer Kashmir in 1586, and his son Emperor Jahangir died while returning from Kashmir on this road near Rajouri : Wikipedia
