My RE TB 500 Motorcycle Diaries

Yesterday, I decided to have Blue Bird's RC in smart card in lieu of paper one, which is already torn and mutilated; visited the Vahan website, filled in the details for the issue of duplicate RC with the reason 'torn' and paid ₹ 375. When it is ready, I have to visit the RTO and collect the RC in smart card.
Now, Blue Bird has its RC in smart card in lieu of original paper RC.

Today, I test-rode the New Classic 350 Halcyon Green from HSR Royal Enfield, Rajajinagar, Bangalore. I liked the ride, handling and the sitting posture of the New Classic 350 more than my Thunderbird 500, my son's Interceptor 650 and Meteor 350. Of all the variants and colours, I like Halcyon Green, which is the VFM, IMO. Seriously considering buying one. :-D

This is the best update that classic got. But now they have increased the price significantly.
Do try meteor on curves and twisties it handles better , though the new classic has same frame now (if i am not wrong).
Also sticking with the tubeless wheel option is a wise pick IMO.

Yes, all the prices have gone up significantly due to pandemic. Even the online valuation of my Thunderbird 500 gets value of ₹ 1 lakh & above after 8 years, which is beyond my expectation. I paid ₹ 1.80 lakhs on-road in April 2013. So, no regrets on that if I get anywhere near the valuation.

Yes, you are right. Both Meteor 350 and the New Classic 350 share the same J-chassis and new BS6 engine. However, the seat height of Meteor 350 [765 mm] is less than that of the New Classic 350 [805 mm] and my Thunderbird 500 [775 mm]. I find the upright sitting position in the New Classic 350 more comfortable compared to Meteor 350, Thunderbird 500 and Interceptor 650, considering my height of 6'.

Yes, I have customized Halcyon Green variant in the RE MIY configurator with alloy wheels, touring seats, touring mirrors, windshield, chrome engine guard and wide front and rear foot rests and saved the configuration. Let me first ascertain the actual resale price of my Blue Bird, and then, decide.

Good to see this high value of old motorcycle. We in delhi are not lucky while re selling. Mainly due to markets like karolbag , Delhi has the poorest resale value for old motorcycles.
Other states like yours fetch better.

After many test-rides of Himalayan, Interceptor 650, Meteor 350, Honda H'ness CB 350 and Classic 350 in the past, just few minutes ago, I booked the new generation Classic 350 Halcyon Green with some accessories through Royal Enfield MiY app. The tentative delivery date is 7 Nov 2021. Excited! :)
