Can we manage without google maps in Ladakh. ?
With your documents, you can buy prepaid new SIM at LEH. (Airtel shop at Leh Main market) Which will be new number. But it will work there.
After reaching back you can stopped recharging it.
Thank you Sajal ji

On the funny side, how many turns are we expecting on the way :)
Thre are many Y and small turns on a trail / way, not marked at many places in Ladakh.
This can lead to wrong directions and can go towards China from Pangong Lake or nearby areas.
This will be a big mistake which many people have done already on bikes.
Be careful in Ladakh as no one is on the way to guide you at many places for several kilometers.
It s better to be prepared with some readymade maps available offline and gmap - offline maps.
We have many map threads already here.

Satinder ji... sounds scary. I have downloaded offline google maps. Still confusing to see small paths intersecting the road on satellite images. It seems hard to differentiate the national highway and the road to villages. It is all looking gravel pathways.

A bit late on this thread but I am wondering if you have the flexibility to do your trip starting mid-June instead of mid-May. The roads are usually much better by then and the weather too is not so hostile as it can be in mid-May.

Being lost is its own adventure - especially when you have a tank full of fuel at your disposal. :)

It is good only when you have enough fuel for body & Bike both !
Even 10 Lit fuel is not enough for a bike in Ladakh.
Forget about Food. It is also not available for several kilometers.
For Uttarakhand or Himachal Pradesh, You can enjoy much in lost ways. I also enjoyed in Uttarakhand many times during our lost journeys without gmaps working routes.
But Ladakh's extreme temperatures / AMS issues can kill anyone if lost at wrong turns ! This is my only point to avoid any risk at this place only.
