When I first started, it was IrfanView. When I first started,it was Irfanview,Photoscape, then came Lightroom and now it is Photoshop....
Very true ! spending 45k, for a novice in photography, it will not be sensible idea though PHOTOSHOP is incomparable with other available softwares at present. One fine day surely I may go for it once I find myself good enough in photography. Till then I will try Photoscape, can you put little focus on batch editing?I agree that Photoshop is best, but it is costly and you will also need to learn it. The processing is not that straight forward using photoshop. Also, you will not like to spend 45k just to improve the images unless you are a professional photographer.
I will say try photoscape or similar free photo editing softwares, I am using photoscape. You can do most of the required photo editing using this e.g. rotating, contrast/colour/brightness enhancement, sharpening etc using these tools. You will miss photoshop only when you will need to do selective editing etc.. else for normal editing photoscape will work well. You can also use it for batch editing of your photos. And above all it is very simple to use, just install and start editing.
Sir, this is tooooooo costly for a novice !!Can be downloaded or purchased as a box set.
Take a peek here: Adobe Store - India - Welcome
That really is not my fault.....

You asked for THE BEST, in capitals!!
None of the BEST software is easy to use..... 'it is not so easy to use....'.
completely agreed and ready to go ahead as downloaded Photoscape just now.None of the BEST software is easy to use.
In most cases you have to study and learn for well over 3 to 4 months, full time!
is it kind of doing copyright?Batch editing is used for applying similar sets of modification on a set of pictures, mostly I use it for watermarking the images and bordering.
It is very easy on photoscape, install it and once you open it you will get all the options on the first screen itself.
