New 250 from Kawasaki is actually a 300.

Come as you are!
^What is the source for your expected prices? I don't think we should speculate just yet.

bajaj has always priced its bike very sensibly .i dont think it will be 4l as it will be closet to 650r and people will prefer that to the 300r.might be 3.5 exshowroom.
Right, so 3.5 ex showroom would take it closer to 4L OTR, in places like Mumbai and Bangalore, which is when the customer base would spill over to the 650. That is the concern

Thats why I said "expected", actual prices might vary as much as 10% depending upon the dollar prices prevailing at the time of launch. My source of information is an interview of a higher official from Bajaj around 15days back on a news channel.

Sorry to spoil the party, but i think its not going to be the case.
Kawasaki already showcased 2013 250R, they will keep that entry level competitor to fight against honda 250cc, moving next step more close to race track material is Ninja300 and Ninja 400 would be to create a category between 250 and 650.

Expecting OTR to be like
250cc < 3L
300CC <3.5L
400CC < 4.25L
650cc< 5.5L

Ideally I would love to see otrs to be

250cc < 1.5
300cc < 2L
400cc < 3L
650cc < 4L
1000cc< 6.5L

if not this then petrol to go down to < 20rs per liter :D :p

All I can say is, lets wait n watch.

Zzzzz...
i doubt if both will coexist in india where pricing is such a key factor. Bajaj is already doing a good job at that. in bangalore the price difference between the 2013 650 and the ninja 250( now old) is around 2.5L OTR. with the new ninja250 it might only be 2L or so. the 300 can be slotted in between but it might affect the 250's sales and am sure bajaj will look at volumes with one model rather than too many.
Prices are all speculations but the 300 would anyway be 1000 dollars more expensive and we can see the same effect trickle down to india too. nevertheless, 300 is the way to go especially in india where we have no learner restrictions.

With Bajaj having a history of launching one motorcycle with 5 different engines separated by 20cc (approx), we can't really rule out the co-existence of Ninja 250R, 350R, 400 and 650.

Those were their own homegrown stuff, not with a CKD or CBU, I doubt they will do that. It just doesnt make business sense specially in India. For me, I know the spare parts costs of the Ninja 250 so I wont touch anything with a 6 foot barge pole unless its made in India, atleast not for the next 2 years.

Get 0% Depreciation insurance policy, enjoy the motorcycle for 3yrs and sell it off. :)
