Owning Nissan Terrano 85 ps [9+ years 180000+ km]

During my Last trip to Kolhapur; the Audio CD did not play right. It was giving some distorting sound.
Last week I gave it to repair and I was out with the Audio unit for a week; the process of repair set-up by Nissan is lousy. The audio unit is CLARION make; the unit needs to go to the authorized service center of Clarion and then parts are checked - faulty parts are ordered and then repaired - audio set delivered.

The normal set of Audio in Terrano or Duster is single deck type; only the system looks like double deck to have the touch screen fitted.

After 1 week; the Audio system was returned to me as it was repaired and when we fitted into my car - there was no improvement,
The dealer Lakshmi Nissan, Nagole swung into action and got the system repaired within a day. They also gave an option of providing new system; but I insisted to have the current audio unit.

I played for an hour and the repair seemed to be done. Need to play for more time and I hope fully want to test for couple of hours on 1st Jan 2015.

Has anybody ever driven the Terrano in high altitude areas? Like Ladakh, Sikkim... any high passes which will tell whether its engine is strong enough for such terrains??

I have read lot about Duster doing successfully in higher region, I see no issues with Terrano; should do it successfully.
I have driven on steep Agumbe ghat twice on Western ghats, did not find much issue - only drop in kmpl to ~ 10-12 [on gradients]

The audio CD unit I played for long 3+ hours twice and it functioned perfectly good.

Did Hyderabad to Srisailam last weekend.
I was in for a surprise that Hyderabad to Dindi road is under road widening. Not sure it is a 4 lane or just broadening of 2 lane with good road! I did not see the median in-between, there were couple of deviations which were only capable for single lane carriage. So in return I took the following route via Achampet - Nagarkurnool - Bhootpur [touched NH7] right to Jadcherla - Hyderabad. The distance is 40 km extra but the travel time remained the same as original.

Just another 500 km to go for 30000 km servicing.

Last Saturday; did another trip to Amaravati town near Guntur - total up and down 600 km in day.
Terrano lived to its expectation.

Last Sunday completed 30000 km servicing.
Engine oil plus oil replacement + service labour = Rs 3350/-
Internal cleaning [including Serv Tax] = Rs 2250/-
Wheel Alignment [including 4 Wheels balancing and Rotation] = Rs 900/-

Original Brake pads are good to go for another 5000 km.

Really this is a better purchase than Duster.
When passes through catches the Eye.
Have More Fun but tell us for Sure.
