Places near Delhi for long weekend trip - 12th Aug to 15th Aug

Active Member
Hi All

Need help of experts for you suggestions on destination for independence day long weekend trip from 12th Aug to 15th Aug'17.

We are based in Faridabad and would like to avoid traffic rush as much as possible hence any place through Shimla route is out of list. Recently done Kinnaur valley.

Options we are thinking as of now is :
  • Munsiyari (Uttarakhand)
  • Dalhousie/Mcleodganj (Himachal)
  • Tirthan (though have been there before - but can explore it again)
  • Sach Pass (seems to be very tight considering just 4 days-- please let me know if you think otherwise)
  • Udaipur (Rajasthan) - Not too keen considering the hot and humid climate but in option due to beauty it throws in raining season.
Thanks in advance to all.

Yogesh Sarkar

Munsiyari would be a good bet, though please keep in mind, during monsoon season the road can get blocked and the chance of seeing Panchchuli Range is quite less.

If you’re looking for a scenic drive, then Dharchula is a good option as well. Though road can be bad and at times get closed.

Binsar, Kausani, Chaukori, Baijnath etc. on the other hand are easily reachable and there are plenty of alternate routes you can take, in case one of the road closes down.

Full Use Else Lose
Betting on your last option -- Udaipur! :)

Take Rajdhani to Abu Road. Taxi to Mt. Abu. Spend a day.
Taxi to Udaipur. Spend 2 days. Take Mewar Express in Tatkal Booking from Udaipur. Back in Delhi.

Can any one tell me where is this place in Rajasthan

Gadariya Mahadev is a temple located in a cavity or a cave of rocky wall of Chambal River Ravines.
It s a temple of Gadariyas( the shepherds).
The shepherds come to this temple, offer prayers, bathe in the running spring water that is close to the temple.
There is no commercial activity in the area(no hawkers selling any eatables) The temple has one priest who blesses everyone that comes to the temple. The temple is located at a distance of 40 km from Kota( Rajisthan ).

This place is on opposite side of other Chambal River's Mahadev.

Garadia Mahadev Temple
One can get a grand view of River Chambal from the Garadia Mahadev Temple. Situated on Dabi Road (NH 76), this temple provides an incredible view of the surrounding wilderness. It is a must visit, especially during monsoon.
Garadia Mahadev Temple
Magnificent Temple in Kota

Garadia Mahadev Temple is a noted shrine of Kota, located near the Chambal River. It is located near the NH-76 that leads to Dabi and Chittorgarh. If you’re someone who enjoys spectacular views, then this place doesn’t disappoint. It provides one of the most mesmerising views you can hope to find of the Chambal River, gorge and the plains. The shrine can be reached by descending a few steps where you can pay your respects to Lord Shiva. The place is a tad remote and isolated from regular tourist hotspots but is worth the journey you have to make. Most people recount being stunned by the sheer beauty and memorable view. Thanks to the privacy and view it affords, this spot is quite popular as a picnic destination. Nature lovers can sit here for hours, absorbing its tranquillity and pristine beauty. Budding poets, writers and artists can count on being inspired by the still, blue waters and surrounding wilderness. If peace, blessings, nature’s splendour and privacy is what you’re looking for, you won’t find a better place than this.

How to reach here
One can take a local bus or hire a rickshaw or taxi from anywhere in the city.

Best time to see: MONSOON (Rain time - July - August)

Thanks @adsatinder for throwing this absolutely new place. Any ideas of stay options near by.
There are many hotels at Kota city.
All places to watch in Monsoon are nearby Kota only around Chambal River.
Rawatbhata is also nearby city has own value and I liked some places there.

I ventured out to many nearby places from Kota City only as base.
