Please suggest a midrange hotel in Mysore

Planning to be in Mysore briefly.
Need a decent hotel with usual amenities and WiFi connectivity, preferably near the Maharaja's Palace.


?? Is the palace lit up on Mondays? :)
Is it closed on Mondays?

Palace is open on all 7 days. Illumination happens only on Weekends and public holidays between 7Pm to 7:30pm.

For hotels, you can try Ramanashree Comforts or Siddartha Palace, both are about 500mtrs from the place. Not sure about wifi connectivity, been ages since I was there.

Photography is not allowed inside the palace,but you can carry it inside the palace compound.

Ramanashree group of Hotels and Resorts is located in Bangalore and Yelahanka, India. The Mysore hotel is missing in their website. Maybe they sold it and the name has changed.
Hotel Siddharta sounds average.

How is this Parklane Hotel on 2720 ,Harsha Road ?

Rechecked, yes its sold off to someone else. Forgot the new name though.
Parklane is small, but really good with roof top garden and a good view of the palace. Few other alternatives would be Pai Vista (has wifi) and Sandesh de Prince.

How long will it take for the Volvo from Mysore to Ooty?
Are share jeeps/SUVs doing that route via Bandipur NP?

Pricing I haven't checked lately,Pai Vista is better, its new. SD prince might overshoot your budget a bit.

I don't think there are volvo service to ooty (not sure)most buses which goes to ooty are private ones and its about 150kms, takes 3hrs to 3.5hrs to reach.

My last visit to bandipur was more than 5yrs ago, they don't have jeep/suv safari.
However Jungle lodges n Resorts do. Better check,before booking.

The Karnataka transport people have this Volvo going from BLR to Ooty via Mysore.
I read somewhere... the nicer route via Bandipur Park is only taken by "mini" buses.
Tamil Nadu transport also has these bus services. Both have websites for online bookings.
Which private operators are reliable?
Regarding the SUV I only meant to enquire about share taxis in the area. No time this time around for a jungle safari!

Shared taxis,yes. You can hire one from Gandhi square they are mostly unorganized ones. None of them use SUV's but you'll get Jeeps though.Private operators, you have Bharat International Travels (BIT) and safe wheels, both have a good choice of vehicles and tied up hotels in the city.

Volvos, just checked KSRTC site, buses start from Bangalore (shantinagar BS) and stop at Mysore to pick up passengers. No direct buses,
