Poori Chole at Nimmu

While there are several small eateries at Nimmu Village (along the Srinagar - Leh Highway), one stands apart from the rest, the Poori Chole Wallah.

This eatery is the first one on the left hand side (if you are coming from Srinagar) in Nimmu Market and serves really nice poor chole, though to tell you the truth, pooris looks and tastes more like bhatura. But nonetheless, it is a great economical meal option and remains open even during peak winter of Ladakh.

These guys also serve decent samosas, but it is poori-chole which I would recommend. The only problem with eating outside, especially during winter is the dogs, which come begging in, for a morsel of your poori.

Not a language issue sir. Cook and owner don’t look Ladakhi, when I asked cook whether it is poori or bhatura, he smiled and said poori.
