Day 5 continued – Jot Pass and Beyond

We reached Jot pass a little after 12 noon. It was a small climb from the road towards the view point.

There are a few staying options available on the top of the pass, but we decided to move ahead so that the journey would be less on the next day.

The snowed peaks and high altitude are so intoxicating that we felt depressed as we were descending from the pass.

We saw the Ravi basin again.

We had delayed lunch at Shelly restaurant on the link road, Samote.

We decided to break the journey and stayed at Hotel Rajat, Chambi.

Went out for a stroll behind the hotel in a village, which appeared to be an affluent one with paddy fields, nice buildings. This is in stark contrast with any typical Bengal village, where the lack of affluence will be noticeable. A gentleman, an ex-serviceman, approached us and invited us to his house. We had the privilege having fresh milk there.

Day 7 continued – Exploring Barot Further

Barot is not devoid of other marvels. There is an iron pipe on the bank of the river, which sprouts river water from time to time.

We could not figure out the exact reason, but it was wonderful to watch this phenomenon. In fact, we visited this place again after lunch in the hope of taking some better shots.

It tests one’s patience to a great extent to have a good photograph.

Barot is also famous for trout fishing. We were told trout was not available because of a cloudburst happened somewhere else earlier. But here we got an opportunity to taste it; and we must say that it was brilliant.

The afternoon became dark with formation of clouds, and we had to remain in the hotel room.

@cat This forum is not for the common, by the common, of the common (we are exceptions, and exceptions prove the rule). Finding and serving seafood in Himachal are also not common!

Great travelogue @mousourik . We visited Barot in March 2017 and remember the places you've captured. We even went up to Baragram road end. Very rustic feel. There's nothing like sitting in the bank stones of Uhl river and watching all day the flow of river. We stayed in one of the tents by bank of river. From Barot we proceeded towards Manali via Dynapark road to Mandi which again was so wonderful to travel. I'm so much impressed about the way these local live a simple yet so happy life.

Day 8 – Barot to Mohali

Five Musketeers

It was time to bid adieu to beautiful Barot.

This photo was taken on the last day at Barot – perhaps a subtle reminder that it should have been taken while entering there, and we’ll have to make it happen some day.

There is another temple of Dev Pashakot near Tikkan.

We had to stop very soon, as a majestic view was waiting for us at Jhatingri.

These are the views for which we'd love to travel for more than 1000 km.

We took breakfast at a restaurant nearby which had been opened recently, and what a wonderful view it offers. It also has tented accommodation. New Punjabi Rasoi – Mr.Prem Thakur 7018722826, 9882311002
