Day 4 continued – Journey towards Kugti

As we started moving along this hitherto unknown road, almost a virgin landscape opened before us. We were on the right side of the Budhil river, and the vistas on the left side were astounding.

It's a serene world.

The road was gradually guiding us to a fairyland.

Day 4 continued - Kugti

We reached Kugti.

A quaint river, snow-capped peaks, pine forest – what else are required for an idyllic hamlet! Kugti seemed to be the utopian dreamland - situated not very far from a town, yet retaining its rustic charm. We were surprised to see a government bus standing there. In fact, while coming back, we saw another bus going to Kugti. It’s amazing that even such a remote village is served by public transport.

There is a secondary school there - the furthermost building in the above photo.

We had a little chitchat with the local people. Trekking to Kugti pass starts here, which leads to Spiti valley. Saw clouds gathering, and decided to go back.

Who built this strong and beautiful bridge? And where does it lead to? We saw only dense jungle on the other side!

We again stopped at the starting point of Manimahesh trekking route.

Some young lads were forcefully making a flock of sheep take bath. It was a funny sight.

Leaving Hadsar

We spent the afternoon taking a stroll to the main road of Bharmour and then on the helipad.

The road from main market to the helipad is very narrow and it is turned one-way alternately.

We also had a chance to collect some apples, but the aged owner of the orchard refused to take payment for that!

Kugti is starting point of Parikrama of Mani Mahesh Kailash also !

Only strong trekking People can do this route with guide. During Yatra season there are many groups on this route. Wild Bear and other animals are common on this route. No one should leave the group at any point of time.

However, you are lucky to reach Fairyland instead in Good weather.

Bharmour to Hadsar :
Weather was very bad in August when yatra was about to start and in between also.
Road was washed away and landslide prevented to enter trekkers from Hadsar side. Shopkeepers and Bhandara Sewa Samitis also faced same before setting up the facilities for yatra period.
You were lucky in this area to see all the beauty at this time of the year !

Very true. Thanks for your consolation, but that does not lessen the disappointment for not being able to go to Pangi valley.

Also, August is the monsoon month. So it is expected that it will rain then. And this year there were excessive rains in HP.

wow wow thats some beautiful places that you have shown us mousorik. is there any accomodation in kugti ?? we guys from down south are missing the himalayas.
