Purchasing a Royal Enfield from the Army

Following is strictly my opinion, but formed out of working in Govt service for 19 years and I have seen and ridden many many bullets. I was thinking of giving this post a miss but couln't help it. Nobody took the bait in two days. I am irritated with the idea that army/Govt auctioned bullet is the best option.

I cannot but agree with you more. The usage and classification from Class I to Class V and thereafter disposal- is time and odometer bound by formula.
There are no 'pre-1968' Bullets in the Army today, save what are maintained by Units as memorabilia.
Whatever is disposed as Class V, thereafter gets scavenged by organized gangs in ASC Depots and ALL salvageable parts are well, salvaged, and replaced with crap parts from the local markets.
These are the same Bullets that are then auctioned off, and sold again on the roadside.
All said and done, its very difficult to explain and more difficult to expect someone to listen to what Ram and I are saying, and there IS a market for these auctioned bikes.
Just for the record- the last known sale- from a dealer who picked up bikes in auctions- a reasonable working (means only engine starting moving in 1st gear) bike would sell for between 12-15K.

Try looking at scrap yards near you or some metro cities where more than 15years old vehicles are banned .
I am also on a look out for a bullet for my daily use. i am planning to modify it according to my taste. Thinking of an army auctioned bullet because i heard they are available at a very low price from auctioneers i am from kerala

Hello, I have a bullet from one of the guy who has bought bullet from panagrah but for some reason in the RTO it says financed and the financer name is displayed as Panagrah... so I'm not able to get it transferred to my name... kindly advice

Ask the original owner for the noc from the financer and also its his job to clear the hypothecation. Once you get the noc then you have to get the hypothecation cleared from original rto. Financer would give noc only if the loan is cleared or the second owner agrees to pay the remaining loan.

If I am not mistaken Panagarh is the famous market for second hand/stolen/Army old vehicle near Durgapur. If that is the place they are famous for the same. Even I had similar issue long time back.
Do you have cash receipt? Form 29/30 with id proof of registered owner? How much did pay? The reason I am asking is because just doing some back calculation.
Let me know where do you stay? I have some good contacts in Motor vehicle in and around Kolkata and they might guide with the situation.
