It is the monsoon (rainy) season, so, plenty! What part of August would you be arriving in? Asking because monsoon season gets over towards the end of August.

I also will be in India in August and have been going through the same trying to find out any places that might be OK and how to escape the monsoon.
Lahaul Spiti and up to Leh look like likely places given they are in the rain shadow of the Himalayas. Might be an interesting ride once out of the monsoon riding up from Dehli. Kullu and Parvati Valleys might be a bit wet but you never know if you never go and plus they sound like a bit of fun
I have also been investigating hiring a bike in Manali or Leh but the quality of bike is suspect. To do this means catching the bus up to Manali from Delhi and seeing what the weather and roads are really like for myself. If it is all ok I can still head back to Dehli and hire a good bike or just hire a more "how's your father" type bike and go for smaller rides from there and then catch the bus up to Leh and do the same.
I will be in Delhi 8th August with the AC turned up full.

In Manali, in Rohtang Road, after the bridge from Manali, saw UCE Electras and even 500 Classic bullets for hire. I rode in my 2009 Standard 350 CI which gave difficulty more than once. Had to tune carb three times while climbing Rohtang La and had to adjust clutch and change clutch oil at Keylong. Still it went dead after a watercrossing after Jispa. I was saved by a mechanic accompanying a European group from Delhi. In our group, we had three UCE bullets which performed beautifully throughout the trip.

Further rented older bullets with CI engines gave mileages of 15 kmpl which means you will have to carry at least 10 litres of fuel. I managed with 4 litres of fuel and it just hit reserve after Upsi.

ride safe.:)

Question
What is a UCI Bullet (Ultra Confident Indian?)

Enfield’s tryst with modern engine design:D. On a serious note, it is UCE and it stands for Unit Construction Engine i.e. the gear and clutch assembly is now integrated, instead of being separate like in cars. This essentially leads to less power loss and better gear shifts since clutch assembly is immersed in engine oil. All the Enfields are now coming with UCE and the older engine has been phased out.

@ ramamoorthy was it your own bike ? and was it not serviced before your trip ?
It was serviced under my own supervision. But a stupid mechanic in Manali messed with carb before I could react. I just asked him to check brakes and lube chain. Then as the bike was running rich at high altitude; adjusted aircrew. Dropped the needle at Keylong and it went well thereafter. I was carrying a smaller main-jet, but didn't use it. It went dead as water got into CB point.. it was covered well though..

What is a UCI Bullet (Ultra Confident Indian?)
it is UCE and not UCI.;

Here is my model with rear brake in left side and gear lever on right side. This has cast iron cylinder with separate gearbox and clutch case and operates on CB point ignition.

Here is the newer UCE model with rear brake on right side and gear on left side.This is integrated engine with gearbox as well as clutch as one unit and operates on newer TCI ignition

There is a substantial saving of space (and weight?) in the engine area with this modification. Changes the look of the bike to, but for the better I think. TCI must mean an electronic ignition system but I won't have a guess.
