Hi Yogesh, I have the exact same query as Manvendra above...Actually, I would refine it...

THere is this guy called Keshav who rents bikes in Manali...He DOES allow to take the bike till Leh and then we can drop it there..He would get it picked up in a truck..But that service costs 7000 Rs per bike..

So my query is, Is it possible to get a bike in Manali, drive upto Leh and get it picked up by the dealer at a cheaper rate???

A lot depends on this as my trip plans might change depending upon your answer..

Renting Motorcycles in Goa

We had rented 1 Passion, 1 Honda Activa, and 1 splendor which cost us 400rs per day per bike, WITHOUT any DEPOSIT!!!

All they asked for was a VALID GOVT RECOGNIZED ID PROOF (We gave Pan Card), Original was to be submitted along with Photocopy of Driving License..

Although we were in peak season (In DEC 2007), the locals suggested the ideal price off season is any between 150-300 depending on the type of motorcycles..

We hired Motorcycles right next to Panjim post office where this bridge is located, (don't really remember the name of it, but i have snap of the same..)

Great place for travellers this... I have a query.. we are a group of 4 people wishing to do manali-leh circuit in july on bikes... we plan to start on 11th july.
We have some queries though
- We have never done such long distance bike journey b4... we are good in biking but does not have bullet experience, what option do we have in this case.... is it better to ride the bike from manali-leh or get one from delhi after getting a hptdc bus from manali, seeing our experience... though wary but still i wish to ride from manali to leh... is it sensible for us??
- we are arriving in manali on 10th nite and have to get a bike in morning and leave... can u please suggest some decent bike rentals in manali... cost should be 500-700
- we plan to cover nubra valley and pangong lake.. how much time is need for that?

Yogesh....just joined the group..

I am traveling from mumbai with two friends for manali- leh - manali.

Till Chandigarh ( Saturday Morning ) flight and exploring the option for further travel ( gypsy/Bike) .

I have less time ( 8 days) need to back on Sunday evening at Chandigarh

What do you suggest for self drive
1) Taking gupsy from chandigarh or Manali
2) taking Bikes from Chandigarh or Manali

Either way you won't have more than couple of days in Leh! Better option would be Gypsy for Manali - Leh - Manali and hire a motorcycle for tours within Leh.

I recently visited Chennai and rented a two wheeler (Pulsar 200cc) from a bike rental services at Annanagar West , I was surprised to see that they seemed to have all kind of motorbikes. I was charged 450 rupees per day. I rented the bike for a week and I was asked to submit any of my original ID card ( in my case I submitted my driving license). I instantly fell in love with Pulsar 200cc. I should say the bike was well maintained and was in excellent condition. He also provided me with a proper helmet. They had all kind of bikes and the rent started from Rs.250 per day onwards. I was not asked to pay any security deposits which surprised me a lot. Although I don’t remember the company’s name or the young chap’s name I have his number 9952100400. It was said that they also offer bike for rental in other parts of Tamil Nadu. Hope this helps.

Can we have a thread with list of known and reliable bike or car renters in places like Shimla, Manali and so on


I just got a urgent call from one of my friends who is visiting Manali wanting to know if there is any good bike renters in Manali - It took me ages going through various posts to give him 2 or 3 names.

It would have been good if we had a dedicated thread where such information is updated on the 1st post as and when updates happen- it would be very helpful for all.
