    Hi friends,

My petrol Ritz is giving average of 13-14kmpl with 50% AC usage in city.

    Is this normal or low?
Any fellow petrol Ritz owners can confirm please.

In case it is indeed low, any pointers on what to do in order to improve.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Go out of Delhi.
It will be good on highways only.
With AC on it seems normal.
New swift is giving 11-12 only in Delhi.

Ask service guys about its performance and clearly tell them to do something about it.
I hope this will be resolved soon.

U should be happy about it.
13 in ac in city is good for this summer.

Clean ur filter by gentle tapping it. This will help.

Generally, you get better mileage if you are driving in higher gear. In city driving where you stop and accelerate, you would not necessarily get high mileage.

My cousin has a Ritz petrol in RJ and I have driven it extensively in RJ on highways with full load capacity. I can vouch for your average FE of 13-14 kmpl in City with low AC usage as pretty good.

As mentioned earlier, it is NOT low; check your usage of AC. Even if you are using AC in 50% of your drives, the idle time on red lights or traffic congestion or waiting for passengers to get in/out of car increases your consumption of AC, thus lower FE.

To increase your FE further, use following tips:
    1. Stop using AC! Sounds impractical but this is the most crucial decision, FE or comfort.
    2. Always accelerate gradually, and upshift a bit early. By 45kmph you should be in 5th gear.
    3. Anticipate your braking. Do not jump on brakes and then accelerate. Remove your foot from A-pedal, and let it slow down a bit, if that serves the purpose.
    4. Use Google maps and choose a less congested 'longer' route in city. It works!
    5. Clean your air filter and spark plugs regularly.
    6. Switch to alternate fuel, CNG.

I hope none of my suggestion will sound harsh to you. :)

    Thanks jeet!
I had changed the cabin filter few months back. Also got high pressure water sprayed on the condenser for better cooling.
Doesnt seem to have major effect on the average though.

I see people reporting 16-17kmpl FE in city for cars like ecosport etc so felt that 13 for a small car is definitely low. Even tiago, etc give better FE.
That is why thought of asking fellow Ritz owners.

    Thanks Sachin.

Been using AC only during daytime for this reason only. No AC while coming back from office in late evenings or night.
I upshift around 1800-2000rpm. Isnt 45 low for 5th gear. I shift to 5th gear at near about 55kmph.
Yes I avoid sudden braking and slow down way before the lights if they are red.
Air filter and Cabin filter are cleaned/changed regularly and spark plugs were changed 6000kms back.

Asked the mechanics while servicing also but there is no possibility of tweaking in K-Series engine, so thought of asking fellow Ritz owners here. :)

Most people don't know how to measure accurate FE. Usually the higher figures are nothing but hearsay.

My Tiago Petrol AMT never gave me more than 13-14 kmpl on MID in city. In brim to brim calculations, it stands around 12+ kmpl in city use with AC in use throughout the drives. It's a heavy car!
Recently it gave me 18+ kmpl on my RJ trip with high speed runs and AC throughout.

Ritz is also a heavy car and not a tin can. So, take it as you are getting good FE from your car.
