Road to Ziro

Drove on Sat 2 April from North Lakhimpur, Assam, to Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh, and from Ziro to Itanagar on Sun, 3 April. Very bad road after first 50-odd km. Continuous rains for past 4-5 days so muddy, slushy roads from about Yazali to Yachuli. Several vehicles including Sumo got stuck. My passengers had to get off 3 times and walk in the slush

the journey to Ziro to lighten the load. My Innova also got stuck yesterday about 15 km before Ziro. Helpful truck used my tow chain and reversed to haul my vehicle out of the mud. Had to wrestle with the steering wheel both ways while negotiating muddy bits where the centre of the road was high with mud. Undercarriage took a lot of punishment. Another couple travelling by taxi from Dibrugarh and who were being hosted by same Home Stay owners but in different building also got stuck 2-3 time last night and had a very bad time before reaching Ziro.

Also missed Ziro's famed views because of clouds. Would advise anyone intending to go to Ziro to check weather and road conditions before embarking on journey. Our home stay host advised us that the best time to go to Ziro was December-February.

Tug-of-war this morning to pull out stuck Sumo
