Thanks Shantanu. Yes it's a live log but will be difficult to catch up. Just reached Bhuj and checked in to the hotel. Plan local shopping today evening and the whole of western and southern Bhuj tomorrow. Then will move to Hodka.

Have covered Bhuj, Mata na madh, Lakhpat gurudwara and fort, Narayan sarover, Koteshwar, Mandvi, Rann Utsav, Dhordo, White Rann, Chhari Dhand, Kalo Dungar and India bridge. Will proceed to LRK tomorrow. Bad internet connection and packed schedule meant no updates. But have taken detailed notes and will share in the log.

Excellent and looks promising log. I had breakfast at Sugar and Spice during my December 2013 trip to Velavadar and LRK.
Though did safaris at Gir but could not try Somnath.
Excellent pictures. Lion picture has little blue tone.
Did u see Hyena and how was Velavadar?
Travel safe.

Thanks Subrat. Blue tone is due to autocorrect. No hyenas in Velavadar but we saw what we are pretty sure was an hyena crossing the road in dark on our way back from white rann. Velavadar was a quick stop on the way as we could not get accommodation. So stayed in Bhavnagar on the way to Gir.

Somnath is just an hour drive from Gir so try it the next time you are there.

A small review of Hotel Fern Residency, Vadodara and some pictures of the room before proceeding to Day 2.

Stayed at this hotel for one night only with family, and enjoyed the stay. The room was very clean and spacious and the quality of toiletries was very good. The staff was very polite and courteous. The hotel is centrally located (very near to the bus and train station).

We ordered dinner in the room and the food was quite nice and well presented. The breakfast and WiFi were complimentary with the room rate. The breakfast buffet spread was decent, but could be improved. For e.g. they had aloo parathas but pickle or curd was not served in the buffet but they did provide it when asked for. Eggs are not served in the buffet (the reason being that most customers are pure veg) but they do serve it if asked.

The mini bar is very well stocked and the prices are clearly mentioned. Only thing is that the hotel is on a very busy road and although the room was AC, we could hear noises from outside. Also the hotel does not have parking inside and one has to park in the small and narrow lane outside the hotel. So you have to worry about the car and if it may be scratched while parked.
