Before I start with the review, I just wanted to tell a small story how it all started.
I was in 11th standard when my father bought a second hand Royal Enfield Machismo. It was bought from my cousin brother-in-law who had bought it in U.P. and within two week's time after he purchased the bull, met with an accident and fractured his left arm. My cousin sister insisted to sell off the Machismo since she felt that it was too heavy for her hubby to ride. My elder brother, who was a fanatic about bikes, wasted no time in convincing my father to buy the Machismo. It was chrome Machismo with tank pads. I used to study in Bangalore and went home for vacation, that was when I first saw the Bull. I fell in love the moment I saw it.
Everything about the bull was amazing, the tank, the engine, seats, shocks... Boy! It was as if I met the machine of my dreams. I ran into the house and screamed in ecstasy "WOW Maa!!! New bike!!! , Please give me the keys, I will take it for a short spin and be back in 5 minutes." The very same moment my brother came out of his room and said "Don't even think about touching it, do you have slightest idea how much this bike cost??" (In those days ordinary bikes used to have price tags below 35k and bulls costed around 55k, and since my father was Doctor in railways and before 6th pay commission, his salary was no where close to 55k). I told my brother "How much ever it might cost, I'm sure you never paid that amount so please back off and don't act as the owner of the bullet".
My brother didn't say anything but he ensured that my father never gives me the bike. I don't know what my brother told my father, but the moment my father came back from hospital, I saw him speaking to my brother and then dad approached me and said "Don't touch the bullet, it costed me 49k (second hand price which he paid to my cousin brother in law)". I was heart broken. I know I was bit reckless in riding bikes but I couldn't take off the idea of riding it. Next day, Dad went to office and my brother went to college (my father's office was just next to our railway bungalow and brother went on his friend's bike to his college).
Just imagine, I was alone with the bull
. I didn't take it for spin but ensured to start it, turn the throttle, honk the horns etc etc
.. The moment my brother came back from college, he checked whether bullet is in garage. Touched the engine and found it was warm. He came rushing to me and almost screamed "How dare you touch the bullet?!?!?" I said "HUH" and went straight to my mom (since moms are always the saviors of their youngest child
).. I didn't touch the bull for next one week but was surely looking for a chance.
A week later my brother found the rectifier was dead and the battery of the bullet was not charging. In those days bullet parts were not easily available in small towns like mine so my brother had to go to Patna to get the rectifier. The day my brother left, I had a cricket match in another small town, almost 20 Kms away. I promised my friends to get the bullet so - stole the key, took it out of the garage without starting it, took it almost 100 meters away from my house, started it and went to my friend's place. We both sat on it and started the journey. Oh my god!! The feeling cannot be expressed in words!! It was out of the world!!! My friend praised the bull to the core, and also my riding skills (I'm pretty sure he did it just to please me). Everything was right about that day, except me getting out on below 10 while batting
.. Everyone who came to the ground were impressed that a small kid came on Bullet! (Macho!!!!
)
Match got over before noon, I was tensed that the battery charge might have lost to my luck, it started without giving any trouble and I reached my house. I cleaned the bull thoroughly, polished it and placed it the garage. I forgot that my brother was the James Bond in our family, he saw the ODO and came rushing to me, held me by my hair, thrashed me left and right
and then went to Dad and made him to scold me since I had taken the bull when it had problems. I was very angry, with tears in my eyes
and with lots of pain, on my face coz of the blows given by my bro, and in my heart coz dad scolded me. I shouted "FINE!!! I'll never touch this bullet but remember, One Day, I'll own a bullet of my own and let's see if you two can touch it (hahahaha.. bit filmy and immature, but I said it
).. I never touched it after that. I still remember the number of the bullet, it was UP 52B 5121. Few years later my father sold it to a local guy and bought his fav ride, Rajdoot
Dear friends, my apologies for this long story but I couldn't hold the reason why it all started.

After much drama, I finally got my RE Electra 350 Twinspark on 1st Oct 2012 from Royal Enfield Brand Store, Jayanagar, Bangalore. After delivery, on the way back home, I got at least 4-5 appreciations from people on the road. One Auto rickshaw driver asked what was the mileage, of which I had no idea since it was my first stint after long with RE brand. Got fitted chrome fly crash guard, engine guard, twin horns etc. As I had been planning for past five months, next day I started on my tour for pooja to Chamundi Hill, Mysore. On the way to Mysore, a guy on Qualis took it his head and gave me Thumbs Up for my choice, I nodded my head and raised my hand in response (I couldn't stop smiling for next 20-30 Kms).
Now without wasting any of your time, lets get to the review part.
The seats and shocks are amazing! Seating position, handle bars gives perfect riding comfort. Color, though is called Black, but looks green in sunlight which is another amazing feature. I felt the idling was set a bit high (probably due to the engine being new). No doubt, the complete design looks so intact and masculine. Pillion seats is wider than Bajaj Avenger's pillion seat. Most don't like the thump with the stock silencer, but I have no complaints. Being an owner of RE Bull is everything that matters. I'm already in love with this beast. While riding, it's very steady and turning radius is pretty good.
Every bright thing has a a dark side so here are few of the cons, according to me:
1. Rear Tyre could have been little broader than the existing one
2. The battery brand could have been better.
3. Mild engine oil leak from the right side of the engine (hoping its not a major problem and should be fixed in the first servicing).
4. Engine gets more heated up as compared to other bike's engine.
5. False neutrals (probably not a con and might be my fault).
Attached are few of the pics of my Electra while on the way back to Bangalore. Hope you all will like it
