Self drive Mumbai to Singapore and back

There are two ways of looking at this issue.
One is, even though in routine road crossings are not allowed, there is no harm in applying for a permit for that. Since you are planning for the trip only in 2015 or so, I suggest you explore the possibilities of getting a permit.,
The second is what Anupji suggested. Since you are in Mumbai, why don't you consult HV Kumar for suggestions? There are many exiting routes within India itself. My friend Suresh Joseph has already undertaken a number of challenging trips!

Dear Arshad,

Thanks for the info. I am aware of it. However they did it as a company I want to do it on my own, I am now watching the developments of the GREAT INDIAN WORLD TRIP.

Major issue of Carnet and crossing Mynamar.

Hoping to see how it works out.

Please pass on whatever you may think will be useful.

this is possible now if you have not completed it, i can help you with it. Since i am also dreaming of it so i collected as much information that i can give you here
So firstly you will need to get into myanmar via moreh, manipur to tamu, myanmar.
To enter into myanmar overland you will need a valid passport and visa, carnet for your car and a special permit which is issue by local travel agents, costing around $100, information regarding which is not available on any website of myanmar embassy. you will have to send an email to travel agency, you can find it by google. Having this permit got, you can enter myanmar.
The new india-myanmar-thailand trilateral highway is the best route and offcourse the only route you can go to thailand. there are 4 border crossing over there to enter into thailand but only three are available for foreigners, i guess. But any way you can enter into thailand.
You can go malaysia as well because there are no other formalities as i see to enter.
Now to get into singapore you will have to get a permit for your car from singapore. For this you will have to go singapore, get this permit, return to malaysia and drive to singapore.
now i shall suggest you to come back via flight. you can transport your vehicle from any logistics company.
Queries and suggestions are most welcome
