Shanti Guest House - Leh

Thanks so much for this recommendation.. we stayed at shanti guest house last week.
It was great !!

The owner (i think his name is written - tsering) & his son Dorje arranged lovely corner view rooms + an overnight nubra valley jeep tour + 4 day stok kangri trek with guide, tents, etc + return tickets from manali for us - all within budget !! they were very helpful.. we had a flexible program and they just went along and arranged everything for us with a smile ! they didnt charge even charge us for the room we used an extra day to catch our mid-night shared jeep.

The hotel is a little way off but we had a lovely time walking around changspa & by the end of the trip the walk to town also seemed short ! Remember to carry your flashlight if you are out late cos the way home isnt always brightly lit.

The rooms are basic but comfy, warm at night & bathrooms are clean. Only getting the doors to shut & lock could be a little problem !
The biggest advantage that worked for us is that they have an in-house travel agency arranging trips at local prices.

I'd seen this place after i booked in some other guest house. I am definetely going here this June after reading the postive reviews and the fact that it has in house travel agency.

i had called them yesterday...it is 700 for a triple room and 600 for a double room, but it includes breakfast!

Could have bargained a little, they generally charge 500 for double room with Breakfast

yes this place has some good reviews - initially we were planning to stay there but then decided to stay at Oriental GH - and since then we have been there....... but now I have decided to try Shanti as well next time I am there
