Anup and Apurva, thanks!
This log is much delayed.
Best course of action under the circumstances is to at least start posting the pics!

More of Mawlynnong.

The lovely bamboo and thatch cottage, much of it built 'hanging' from the nearby trees!

They even have two rooms to let. No attached toilets though! You have to step outside and walk some distance.

This is a very interesting report, Anup! What a riot of colours.:) I can smell the jungle and feel the mists of Meghalaya.

Aah, after a long time. Great to see your travelog Anup Sir. Shillong is a beautiful place and hope to go there sometime soon.
You guys were really lucky to reach Shillong in 3.5 hours. Last year itself I was stuck for whole day on the road and decided to return back to Guwahati just after Barapani :(. Missed Shillong and Cherra, may be some other time..
And so less water at Barapani, that's unbelievable. When I went there it was full of water, well, almost. And the view from Ri-Kinjai resort is really lovely ,hope you guys went there too.

PS: just now realized that I've already posted about my trip in one of my travelogue :p :p I'm really getting absent minded.

EA, thank you! :)
Every time I see these pics, I, too, literally smell the place!

Kaushik, thanks! :)
Yes, indeed, you did post your travelogue and the beautiful pics of RiKynjai!
In fact, your travelogue was one of the sources from where we learnt about the horrendous traffic jams on the Guwahati to Shillong road!

A few more pics and a group pic at the bamboo cottage. Then we'll go looking for some lunch!

Ah! Tea and Lunch! We'd seen this place while coming to the cottage and decided we'd eat here.

It was time to move on to the next attraction - The Sky View, Mawlynnong.
A rickety structure made of bamboo and cane, supported by nearby trees. You climb right up and have great views of the flatland of Bangladesh.

The whole assembly of bamboo and cane uses no iron nails, no steel!

Awesome Sir
This thread is surely among contention for the best travelogue of 2012.
Sheer quality of pics.
And the most important aspect that every pic is connected to the next one, like verses of a poem.
