Day 15 – Tokyo
The good thing about carrying snacks, instant food, and disposable items while traveling is that as trip nears completion luggage feels lighter. I have already managed to eat my instant food and a lot of energy bars. I have also managed to lose five kilograms of weight. Well, this means a lot of fried and junk food once I am back home. For now, I have I have to pack my backpack and leave for Tokyo. I headed to the bus terminal, right across the Matsumoto Train Station. Though I could have walked to the bus terminal but it was raining and I did not want to get wet so boarded the local bus instead. Distance from Matsumoto to Tokyo is around 225 km and a highway bus covered this distance in three hours. One way ticket set me back by 3500Y. Next bus to Tokyo was after one hour I arrived the terminal. I visited a local shopping mall and a bought a few more souvenirs for my family. I reached Tokyo around 2 PM.
Today is my last day in Tokyo, I will be flying out to Singapore early morning tomorrow. This leaves me with one full day of roaming around in Tokyo and add to it one full night. I had no plans to sleep tonight. I wanted to explore the night life of Tokyo and sneak into some area which comes to life only at the night. Do not get me wrong, this will be a part of information only and no indulgence of any kind will be involved
I headed to an Indian restaurant for lunch. This restaurant named Curry Dish was run by a Japanese chef and his wife. They made me a quick naan and Daal Makhni. Not one of the best but still better!. if you are interested in know where to locate vegetarian food in Japan. Check this where to find vegetarian food in Japan?
Nothing better to do other than some street photography! Some images from the day.

My Last sunset in Tokyo
This was my buffer day. I kept this day to cover any place I left earlier in Tokyo. But I had no more places to see on my list. I decided to head back to Rainbow bridge and Odaiba. I deposited my backpack in a coin locker in Asakusa while carrying my small backpack with me. This time, I took a train from Asakusa instead of a water taxi. I spent mu entire evening roaming around the Odaiba beach and Rainbow bridge. From Odaiba side, I went to a car park to shoot the Tokyo Skyline. I find this car park is one of the best places to shoot skyline across the sea. Last picture. one with fireworks was shot from this car park.

Some Shady areas
I came back to Asakusa around 8PM and from here after taking my backpack I went to Shinjuku area. I had no hotel booking for the day and wanted to spend the night doing street photography and roaming around shady areas of Tokyo. Well, traveling alone has its own advantage. I spent most of my time in Golden Gai and Kabukicho area. I liked Golden Gai. This place has small bars. Each bar can host only a small group of 5-10 people. The idea is to give proper attention to each guest and has a friendly chat with female hosts. I did not want to get drunk, as it was my last day in Tokyo, so I gave up the idea of being a guest of any of those bars. Some bars (mostly run by females) charge a cover charge for entry. This may include a drink as well. Golden Gai is mainly frequented by local office people. I could see many nicely dressed people sleeping on the roadside or totally out due to over drinking. I think “drink responsibly” is not a norm for visitors here.

On the other hand, Kabukicho is a popular Red Light area in Tokyo. I could see many African pimps trying to strike deals with potential clients. Not only men, women were also being serviced. Ladies have the option to choose men from a menu card. I had no intentions to get dirty so I limited my activities to only view and move. No click(s) and no d**k was used
I don’t know what written on these boards. But Red Lights may have a literal meaning

Sayonara Japan
I had a late dinner of fried rice and steamed vegetables at a local shop near Shinjuku Station. I spent rest of my night on the bus terminal near Shinjuku Station with some other backpackers like me who had to catch early morning bus or flight. One of them was German girl who was off to Hokkaido. She was on a months visit to Japan. And I thought I spent too much in Japan.
I boarded an airport limousine (Bus Service) from Shinjuku station to Tokyo’s Narita airport early morning. My flight takes off at 8:45AM.
As all good things come to an end in life, so is my wonderful backpacking trip across Japan. This was my first solo backpacking trip. And I loved it so much that I may never travel with someone else. Traveling alone is addictive, never do it!
