Spiti Last Week of May

Hi all

Planning a Spiti road trip during May last week and June first week. Need inputs for following.

1. Do I need to book hotels in advance for Kalpa, Kaza and Tabo? Kindly suggest good hotels.
2. Planning Shimla-Kaza-Shimla. since travelling in a hatchback, can't risk for Manali Kaza. Still is there any road improvement on Manali Kaza stretch and is it possible in hatchback.

Thanking You

If with family, surely book in advance.
Indian travellers have gone crazy in vacation times and sometimes everything gets booked. And sometimes it is less crowded.

Yes, possible in hatchback very easily. If there is landslide or slush, you just have to wait a few hours max. A lot depends on rain, but Hatch will be just fine.

Hotels you check in hotels section of this forum.

Thank You for responding. Will check at Kaza about the Manali Kaza road status and then take a call. You are the only one who gave me some hope to try Manali Kaza in hatch

Book hotels without fail, Kaza is already getting sold out for May and June. You may end up in a shitty accommodation or sleeping in car
Shimla kaza Shimla is fine, you can do Manali side as well, with some underbody touches

Thank You for reply. Booking hotels in Kaza on war footing, most are saying sold but getting postive confirmation from some. Will return by Manali side. Thank You

I wouldn't advise returning via Manali, particularly if travelling with family. It is too early in the season for that route to be viable in a hatchback without serious impediments. End June would be a safer option for the Kunzum Pass route.
