Alloy wheels avoid getting bend easily. So mostly people prefer alloy wheels. But if you ride insanely then even alloy won't help.
Spoke wheels are not bad at all, IN mountainous region still we have splendour and bullets running on spokes!!
So don't worry on those parts!! Just prepare your self for the ride with all necessary stuffs!!
I prefer spokes, it can withstand more jerks and impact than mag alloys, I have encountered the same Personally when a my RE Classic went in Knee deep pothole and there was only a slight truning after that also i ride my bike for more than 2 months and got it aligned on 4th service.
I feel spokes are better, as repairing is easy. In worst case just straighten the bend spokes and you are ready to go, whereas a cracked alloys - you are dead alone with a stranded bike.
1) If you are a rough rider spokes are good for you as a spoke wheel can take more impact as compared to alloys. Alloy wheels are not made for high impact type of driving, especially the chinese manufactured ones.
2) Having said that I still prefer Alloy over Spokes for the sole reason that I can fit a tubeless tyre while going to Ladakh. The ease of removing a puncture without removing the wheel far exceeds the advantages of a spoke wheel with a tubed tyre.
3) If you already have a bike either spoked/alloy stick to it. If you have lot of moolah and your bike is spoked type then you can convert it to alloys just for the sake of fitting a tubeless tyre.
