Hi,

I have already planned Srinagar to Leh on 5th June 2011. Seems that ZoliLa will open by then.

The forum helps to get the latest info on the Srinagar - Leh 2011 road status!

I have mailed them. No response. As for watermarking, I can put a corner watermark on all my pictures, but thats easy to crop out. If I put a watermark across the picture, it will ruin everyones viewing experience.
If they had given reference to my website in the article, I would have let it pass, but I am going to ask for compensation.
Its high time they learn copyright law.

Their sister concern TV networks will go out of the way to prevent piracy of their programs, and yet they themselves don't care about IP!
It just shows, how good your snaps are. I have seen most of your blogged pictures, I have shown it everywhere :) Not sure who else is thinking of steeling them.
;)

Dear all,
One of my friend is currently travelling at Sonemarg. According to him (over the phone) the roads are completely blocked due to heavy snow. BRO people are working hard. But snowfall continues in every night. BRO people are also doubtful whether it could be opened by end of this month or not. They are expecting another 30 days. The news is from an eye witnesser, may be he is not a reliable authorized source. Waiting eagerly for a specific and relaible news.

Thanks for the update, it still better than the updates of media who every year opens Rohtang on 15th April and Zojila on 30th. Locals are saying it's very heavy snow unusually heavy considering last quite a few years, so expect some delay than usual opening of 15th May, if the region doesn't hit by another fresh WD. (IMD predicts a fresh one from 29th April onwards though)

This is a shame from a media house of national repute and you definitely should persue this. Remember reading this incident between a blogger and Hindustan Times, may give you some clue how to go ahead. Please keep us posted, if it's an OT, do open a new thread but we should know how it finally ends.

Highway will open next week guys....... Leh pilgrimage Starts :)

source:Srinagar-Leh highway to reopen next week

The 434-km Srinagar-Leh highway, which remains closed to traffic during winter due to a heavy accumulation of snow on the high peak Zojila Pass, is being reopened to traffic during summer early next week.

Minister for Transport and CAPD Qamar Ali Akhoon visited the snow-bound Zero Point Zojila, 22 km from Sonamarg on the highway, yesterday. He was informed that five dozers, two Robellas and one JCB machine had been pressed into service for snow clearance from the highway and the road had been cleared up to the link.

The minister directed the agencies concerned, including the Beacon project of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which looks after the highway, and its engineers to make every effort for restoring traffic, as the people of both sides of the Zojial Pass were facing severe problems of communication.
