Stay a little longer vs.Best Available Rate

I have noticed that some upscale hotels in Bangalore mention "Stay a little longer" rate and then another "best available rate." I could not find an explanation of what is this stay a little longer rate? What perplexed me is that stay a little longer rate is lower than the best available rate. My guess was that stay a little longer means you have minor flexibility at checkout time. However, that would mean that the price should be higher than the best available rate but that is not the case. Does anyone know the difference between these two advertised rates and why the best rate is higher?

Stay a little longer means booking more nights will offer a better price. Something like booking 2 nights is ₹100 per night but they will offer ₹90 per night if you book stay for 3 nights or more.

Cheers...

Majority of the 5 star hotels offer a night free with 3 or 4 nights, so the longer you stay, the better the proposition, since it helps keep their rooms occupied and they need to spend less for customer acquisition.

Let me explain why I got confused. I was doing some research with dates and hotel availability. I entered check in and check out and then I get three rates that allow me to book a room. The "stay a bit longer" has a reserve button as if I do not have to change the dates. I went crazy trying to figure out why? I compared the rooms and they were about the same so I thought may be there is checkout time flexibility with "stay a bit longer." Even then it did not make any sense for lower rate.

The difference is that stay a little longer or long term stay rate requires a minimum of 3 day stay and your credit card is charged at the time of reservation. The rate is non-refundable hence lower.

In most other rates, you are charged when you arrive at the hotel. You are allowed to cancel 24 hours before your arrival time.

Ironically, most good hotels in Bangalore are already booked for December (4 months earlier). How crazy is that?
