Summer Harvest Restaurant, Leh

On our last night in Leh, we had our dinner at Summer Harvest Restaurant, which is located on Fort Road (little bit away from the market). Summer Harvest is located a bit off the road, so it is easy to miss it, unless you know where it is or are using Google Maps.

Coming to the restaurant itself, it has nice ambiance and is generally quite busy (especially during season). Service is a bit on the slow side, though it could be due to the fact that it was off season and only one waiter was present.

Coming to the food, Summer Harvest is an excellent option. We ordered Veg Fried Rice, Egg Biryani and Veg Kothay and all three were delicious and so was lemon tea. Overall an excellent place to have food in Leh and not too expensive either!

During my August trip, I could not find a proper mutton biriyani (or even any good mutton dish) in entire Ladakh. Most outlets serves either veg (egg included) or chicken preparations. Fish, crab etc, were no no.
We may consider creating a new thread "Eating joints in Ladakh".

As far as I know, there is no fishing in Ladakh, so it is highly unlikely you will find fish/crab there easily, unless you went to upmarket restaurants. Mutton momos are readily available and so is mutton Thukpa, so biryani ought to be available as well.

Thanks Yogesh.

Lots of things are not produced in Ladakh & those are sourced from outside- either by air or road. But the price is escalated & the feasibility of the trade depends on demand. As the majority of the Ladakhi people are Buddhists and natural vegetarians, the demand depends largely on tourists. A small market offers limited options.
