Which is the best SUV around 20-25 lakhs price range & why? - Jeep Compass Limited Plus, Hyundai Tucson, Mahindra XUV 500 or Tata Hexa?

TATA HEXA
If you are looking for a car to run for 7-8 years and your [or your driver] height is less than 5"7"; then I recommend TATA HEXA.
If your [or your driver] height is >5'8"; then ingress and egress from TATA HEXA is a challenge.
TATA HEXA, is a good car for the price band and is safe too. I am told it has one of the best suspensions.

Jeep Compass:
Strictly for 4 people.
I have not driven it. I have read following issues:

1. Pre-mature Tyre Wear-out issues
2. Suspension level is lower than Duster / Terrano levels. It is slightly harder.
3. ASS experience needs improvement.

XUV 5OO:

1. People love it, sales chart are ticking.
2. Lots of features.
3. Talk to a 3rd party mechanic, he is not impressed with mechanicals.

Hyundai Tuscon:

1. Good car, impressive performance figures.
2. Mind you long run, getting spares might be a challenge.
3. As Hyundai keeps updating this model very frequently.

You can also look at Toyota Innova Crysta, for sure you will be have nothing to worry about Service and you get a good resale value.

At 20-25 Lakhs you should be taking home an Innova. An Innova for all the boxes it tick. If Innova is out of budget then it has be a Hexa.

You can even look for a Harrier how it is on road and buy may be after 6 months from release so that all short comings are addressed.

Yes if you can wait for 3-6 months & 5 seater suffices. Tata Harrier is also a good option. The updates are compiled in the below thread.

However, I am not seeing bookings like it happened with Jeep Compass!
Bookings are open by paying Rs 30,000/-, I recommend to have the Vehicle delivery by Mar / Apr 2019. So that you can decide based on the sales to go for it or not.

My prediction is like what Manza Vs Linea 90 HP engine did the same way a Jeep and a Harrier will be. A Jeep is always superior compared to Harrier given the SUV DNA it has as compared to Harrier.

I do not agree; the Manza was extension of Vista. So it is not right reason for comparing.
Harrier is also a SUV platform of LR.

No I'm not comparing Linea or Manza or for that sake any shape of car. I'm simply saying positioning of Harrier by Tata. Tad below Jeep Compass. It's going to eat away Compass sales.

To prevent that in performance it is coming with slightly detuned engine 140 HP vs 170 HP.

2019 April onwards, 1.3 MJD Fiat Engine is bound to see a Sunset, FIAT is not working on to upgrade to BS VI.
So 2.0 MJD Fiat Engine is expected to stay for some time! Seen on:

1. Jeep Compass
2. MG SUV
3. Tata Harrier
4. Tata Harrier - 7 seater version.
5. Jeep Renegade [launch planned]
6. Jeep Compass [7 seater version]
