Taking care of Camera Lens and Optics

Can you point me to some link where i can find , How to test if AF is off?
Hi Ankur,
You know what, I had posted few pictures on this forums of AF tuning procedure. Now I cannot find.
Earlier I used Jeffrey's chart, but the angle of the chart and camera was critical and with my 200 f/2 and 300 f/2.8 where the dof is razor thin, even slight off would not give accurate results.
then I bought the Lenalign.

PS: I just cannot get around the search features in this forum.

Thanks Yogesh, I found it. here it is. It was in D800 thread.

With Len Align one just need to keep the target in line with the camera and focus on the vertical section. The small hole in the vertical target should be seen through when seeing via camera view finder to confirm they are in line.
This Lens Align is worth.

I would prefer Jeffrey's chart. All the other procedure is correctly explained.
I would check the focus right over there in the LCD and make the AF Fine tuning till I get the correct focus. Here jeffrey's chart will be helpful because it will show you easily if the lens is back or front focusing.
Adjust the fine tune - or + accordingly. Finally check in the computer. A little bit of front/back focusing is fine (half inch).
If you are checking zoom use the max focal length for tuning because at max focal length you'll get least dof.

I follow a simple rule in life which has saved umpteen hours for me i.e. "don't mend something which ain't broken". All the tests and things be tried when one is "prima facie" dissatisfied with the output. Otherwise why bother? I would rather "shoot" at that time .My two cents.... :p
Somnath Da, You are absolutely right.
But I think its good to "know" something rather being ignorant.
Trust me I will not poke my camera. I am kind of paranoid already :)
This test is for informational purpose only.
